I continued to lay on the floor, covering my neck as I just anticipated my hands getting ripped away any moment, and then for it to be followed up by sharp pains and stinging in my neck.
I felt myself flinch as a pair of hands wrapped around my wrists. I think I might've even let out a scared whimper as I felt my hands get removed from my neck. It wasn't harsh, however, but it was more of a soft grip on my wrists as my hands slowly were removed.
Not long lasted before I felt the weight on my stomach get removed and myself get pulled up by my wrists and straight into a tight embrace. As if the person was holding on for dear life.
I held my arms close to my chest as I felt Jungwon place his head on my shoulder, continuing to just hold onto me tightly. I was still breathing heavily from my panic, which I still didn't know if I should let go or keep a hold off.
"I'm sorry... I'm so sorry," Jungwon muttered as he buried one of his hands in my hair, "I'm so sorry... I would never... I promise Ji... I would never hurt you."
I didn't say anything. Instead I just sat in silence trying to cope with what just had happened. He had tried to attack me, but it wasn't a conscious choice. Now he was sitting, hugging me whilst sincerely apologizing.
"I want to go home," was all I mustered to get out, only in a small whisper.
"I'm serious Ji, I swear I would never," he repeated again making me just hum, "I really hope you aren't scared of me now."
"I want to go home," I croaked out again, feeling my breaking point slowly nearing.
"I swear I won't ever knowingly hurt you," Jungwon muttered once more as I felt the first tear escape my eyes, and that's sort of where I lost it.
With the first tear that rolled down my cheek the first sob escaped my mouth. I couldn't do this anymore. This had just been the tipping point for me. I had held it together so well for so long, but now it was just the last drop that made the glass overflow.
"I know... it's okay..." Jungwon muttered and pushed my head down onto his shoulder, letting me cry into his shoulder, "I'm so sorry."
It felt like ages the time I just sat and cried into his shoulder, letting out sobs and whimpers every once in a while. Maybe it was more often than just once in a while.
"Ah... look at what I've done to you..." Jungwon sighed and rubbed his thumb against my nape as the rest of his hand was buried in my hair.
After a while of just sitting in silence against his shoulder, as I tried to compose myself, I pulled my head away and sweeped my hair out of my face, pulling in a long breath through my nose.
"Sorry... where were we?" I questioned and let out a small huff, "searching the bookshelves, yeah?"
I was about to stand up once Jungwon grabbed onto my wrist, making me look back at him. He stared at me with big eyes, more concerned than the usual happy ones I was met with.
"Seriously sit down... you need rest," Jungwon stated and I just nodded at him.
"I do... and I'll get that when you're back to a normal boy and we're out of here," I pointed out and stood up anyways, pulling Jungwon up with me, "now... wouldn't it be normal for there to be categories written on the shelves?"
"Seriously Ji," Jungwon sternly stated and turned me around by my shoulders, "sit down, relax."
"It's fine," I assured and pecked his cheek, "now I would think they would write categories on these shelves."
"Stop it!" Jungwon exclaimed, making me turn and look at him in shock, never once had I heard him raise his voice like that, "Ji you're seriously hurting. You need to slow down. You can't keep going."
"Well... neither can you," I defended and moved over to the other side of the bookshelf, Jungwon eagerly trailing after me once again.
"Ji-" Jungwon started making me abruptly turn to him with a smile on my face.
"It's fine, seriously. You just scared me, I'm fine," I assured him, "lets just find something in here that can help you."
"No, you listen to me," Jungwon urged and grabbed my wrist to turn me around and look at him, "you need to calm down, you can't continue like this. Pretending like nothing is wrong."
"Okay... I've listened, can I talk now?" I questioned making him let out a small huff, "can I?"
"Yeah," he muttered, making me nod.
"I understand that you want me to calm down and relax and all that stuff. But right now we have less than half a water bottle back. That would be like 2 deciliters of water, if not less, and only one orange left to live off. We either get out as fast as possible or I sit down and we might actually dehydrate or starve in here," I explained, making him let out another huff before just nodding, "now... what are we going to do?"
"We'll continue looking... but I don't want you to... I want you to take a small break when you need it," he stated and I just nodded at him before forcing a smile up on my face, "I don't get how you can be crying, a complete mental breakdown, one moment and now you're just standing there smiling at me as if nothing happened."
"I swear the moment I am out of here I'll have another breakdown," I excused him with a small laugh making him just softly smile down at me, pulling me into his side by my shoulders.
"Then I'll be right beside you," he assured.
"Having the exact same breakdown," I nodded at him as I looked up and down the bookshelves, "how about we split up?"
"We what?" he immediately widened his eyes at me.
"There's too many bookshelves for us to find anything today... so we should split up," I excused and he slowly nodded at me, "you can take the middle floor, I reckon you'd be able to look over these shelves, which I'll look through. Then you won't have to worry that much about whether or not I'm being attacked."
"We'll need some signal to yell out then," he stated and I simply nodded at him, "yell out my name or kick or hit something three times. Got it?"
"Yeah yeah," I waved it off to him making him just sternly look at me, "I got it Wonie. Go."
He sighed before just nodding and giving my shoulders one last squeeze before going into his little bat form, the first time since he found me in the castle, and flew up to the middle floor.
I smiled at the small bat shadow of his before turning around the aisle to the bookshelf and continued looking down at it. I quietly wandered around in my own mind looking for any small category sign on the shelves that would help me in my search.
I must've been halfway down the bookshelf when I had found a small sign on a shelf with one simple word that I was quite sure could help me.
'Vampires'
A smile spread on my face as I began looking over the titles on the shelf.
"Jung-" I started before a blonde boy quickly laid his hand over my mouth and looked at me with an eager expression.
