It was quiet in the hallway as Jungwon continued to walk through the castle, beginning to feel the exhaustion and absence of nutrition finally take over him. He could only watch as the sun went down in the horizon.

"We'll go into the next room we pass," Jungwon softly spoke up, not earning a reply, "Ji?"

Jungwon stopped in his tracks and looked to his left shoulder, where Jiyeon's head was resting. Her eyes were closed, but at least she was breathing.

"I'll get you somewhere safe, I promise," Jungwon sighed before looking down the hallway again, in hopes of seeing any door nearby. None was in sight.

Immediately an uneasiness washed over Jungwon. The sun had already gone somewhat down, only a few beams of light could be seen in the distance. It would be easy for anyone to just sneak up on the two right now and take Jiyeon from him, when she hung from his back like that.

Jungwon slowly let go of one of her legs before letting go of the other, carefully setting her down on the floor against the wall beside him. Softly he slowly began shaking her shoulder as he continued to look back and forth in the hallway, in case someone was to come.

"Mhm?" Jiyeon eventually hummed, making Jungwon let out a sigh of relief.

"Listen... I'm sorry to wake you, but it's gotten dark, and a new room hasn't come along yet, so I need to carry you in another way," Jungwon slowly explained making Jiyeon just nod at him, not even opening her eyes, "I'm too scared about not being able to physically see you."

"I can walk," Jiyeon muttered to him in return.

"You can not," he shook his head at her and softly squeezed her shoulder, "I'll carry you in front of me, okay?"

"Mhm," Jiyeon just nodded and lazily brushed some hair out of her face.

"I promise we'll go find food and water as the first thing in the morning," Jungwon assured her and she just nodded before leaning her head back against the wall behind her and squinting her eyes open.

"Come on," Jiyeon stated and immediately wrapped her arms around Jungwon's neck.

"You need to stand first," Jungwon let out a small laugh of disbelief before helping her to stand up on her feet, "my god, you're completely knocked out."

Jiyeon just hummed before placing her head on his shoulder and easily jumping up and wrapping her legs around Jungwon's waist, making him immediately widen his eyes.

"I was thinking about bridal style though," Jungwon commented as Jiyeon just hummed and pressed her forehead against the side of his neck.

"But then it'll be more exhausting for you, I can help keep myself up like this," Jiyeon excused making Jungwon slowly nod before wrapping his arms around her.

"We're resting in the first room we pass," Jungwon stated and Jiyeon just nodded before Jungwon began walking forward again.

Jungwon carefully moved down the hallway, trying to focus on whether or not Jiyeon was falling. But she never seemed to slip one bit down, it was like she was just glued in place. Meaning she must be somewhat awake if she was able to stay in place the whole time.

As Jungwon carefully entered a new hallway he felt a hand go up into the hair on the back of his head and softly ruffle it, making a small smile spread on his face. She was trying to keep herself awake, or she wasn't able to go back to sleep again.

"Thank you, Jungwon," Jiyeon's voice murmured in a tired tone.

"Why?" Jungwon questioned in amusement as Jiyeon's hand kept running through or patting his hair on the back of his head.

"Because you protect me so much in here," Jiyeon hummed in return, "I know I've lashed out about it... but I know it's with good intentions."

"You're tired and don't know what you're saying," Jungwon commented in amusement and Jiyeon just shook her head against his shoulder.

"I mean it," she assured before wrapping her arms tighter around his neck, letting her hand drop from his hair, "thank you."

"I'm only protecting you from the danger I caused you," Jungwon shook his head, "I don't deserve you thanking me."

"Don't tell me what I can and can't do," Jiyeon sighed and turned her face the other way.

"Ji?" Jungwon called out, making Jiyeon turn her head once more with a small hum.

Jungwon glanced down at her sleepy face, the parts of it he could see, with a small smile on his face. He carefully and quickly placed a small kiss on her cheek, a small smile immediately spreading over Jiyeon's face. Showing her contentment.

"It's me that's thanking you," Jungwon softly spoke as he looked down the hallway once more to locate any room in sight, "you've already done more than enough for me."

"Shut up... you're beginning to get annoying," Jiyeon muttered, letting Jungwon be able to detect a small smile in her voice.

"I always am, am I not?" Jungwon let out a small laugh as he spotted a door further down the hallway, "I see a door. We can sleep in there, hopefully. I can't promise that there'll be a bed. We might have to sleep on the floor."

"Jungwon-ah?" Jiyeon questioned making Jungwon hum as he picked up his pace, longing to sit down and rest, "when we find a place to rest... Can I just hold onto you like this? I don't want to let go just yet."

"It's fine," Jungwon softly assured and rubbed a hand on her back, "I'm scared you'll get taken while I'm asleep anyways."

"Mhm," Jiyeon quietly hummed before Jungwon felt her head abruptly lift from his shoulder.

"What?" Jungwon let out a small laugh at how she suddenly had straightened up her back completely.

"Run," Jiyeon muttered with horror, lacing her voice.

"What?" Jungwon questioned in confusion, making Jiyeon's head snap to him, her eyes all wide as she just stared at him.

"I said run," she sternly repeated.
