I stared at the boy in front of me with wide eyes. His hair was dyed blonde, no doubt, it was almost dirty blonde actually. Eyes in the shape of a fox just stared at me, looking all frantic.
"I'm not gonna hurt you," he quickly said in a quiet voice, "I promise, I won't hurt you... I'm here... the girl... you held her hand."
I slowly nodded at his explanation making his hand slowly drop from my mouth and he let out a deep breath as he looked up at the bookshelf. I remembered that girl clearly, she was scared from her wits.
"Listen she is safe... but I need to know where the staircase down from this floor is," he excused.
"I thought Jungwon and I were the last ones left here," I commented, making him let out a small snort before shaking his head.
"We found a safe haven," he nodded at me, "we were lucky... She's safe and protected, but I promised to get back to her last night... I can't find the way down from this floor."
"Oh... okay," I slowly nodded at him.
I didn't really dare to look away from him. By now I had had too many run-ins with harmful vampires in this castle. Even Jungwon had attacked me. I didn't really feel safe around anyone by now. No matter how soft and kind looking this boy was.
"Are you scared of me?" the boy questioned. He had quite a calm and bright aura about him, but I still hesitated to look away or answer him, "I'm sorry if you feel scared... it wasn't my intention. I really don't want to hurt you. I want Jungwon-ie to get out of here as fast as I wish for myself to get out."
I slowly nodded as I nervously gulped down, carefully kicking my foot back against the bookshelf three times. I knew this boy probably wasn't any threat, but I would still feel a bit safer if Jungwon was here. Even if I was still a bit scared of him.
Not long lasted before the basking of batwings echoed out through the library, Jungwon immediately appearing in front of me, cupping my face in his hand. A worried look written all across his features as he desperately searched my face.
"Are you okay? Did something happen? Are you feeling faint?" Jungwon rambled on as I kept an eye on the blonde boy, "Ji?"
"Uh... he uhm... he mentioned you," I excused and nodded my head towards the blonde boy.
Jungwon immediately turned around and looked at him in confusion and shock. Some weird mixture between the two emotions before a slightly worried, slightly happy expression spread on his face.
"Sunoo hyung? What are you doing here?" Jungwon questioned as he grabbed tightly onto my hand, in an attempt to calm me more down, rubbing his thumb back and forth across the back of it.
"I had to go to the preservation room... needed something for the potion," Sunoo excused with a small smile holding up a small leather bag in his hand.
"Potion? You can reverse it with a potion?" Jungwon questioned and Sunoo nodded, "are you serious?"
"You can do it in a lot of ways," Sunoo nodded at us making me look up at Jungwon who looked down at me as well, "but uhm... you know... it is on the sacrifice of her," Sunoo stated and nodded his head to me making Jungwon's hopeful look immediately falter, "I saw Sunghoon hyung run out of the castle with noona... she looked dead. I think it could kill her."
"Yeah... we've been too close to that already," Jungwon sighed as he gave my hand a squeeze, "we'll find the safest possible solution for her."
"I-" Jungwon did not give me a chance to speak before he looked back at Sunoo.
"What did you want from Jiyeon?" Jungwon sternly questioned making me look at him with a weird look. It was rare that I heard him say my actual name instead of some sort of nickname.
"I need to get back to the front hall, I can't find the stairs. I need to get down to the dungeons," Sunoo explained and Jungwon nodded.
"Out of the library door and follow the hallway down to your right. Don't take any other turns," Jungwon stated, making Sunoo nod before running towards the double doors into the library.
He quickly unlock both doors and flew out of them as he changed into a bat. Jungwon quickly followed after him and slammed the door closed and locked it once again. He quickly rushed back to me and looked down at me.
"What?" I questioned him.
"He didn't hurt you, did he?" Jungwon questioned and I slowly shook my head.
"He was harmless," I excused and he simply hummed and just nodded his head, "Jungwon I don't care what that reversal thing is gonna do to me. We're gonna go with the first option we find."
"I'm not letting you nearly die again," he shook his head and was about to pull me to the next row of shelves.
"I fainted, I didn't nearly die," I corrected him and pulled him back towards me, "and you're not pulling me away. I found the section."
"You did?" his eyes immediately lit up and I pointed to the small sign I had spotted earlier, "it would be obvious for it to be here," he nodded in agreement.
"Help me look?" I questioned him and he nodded, "can you like... fly up and look around and I'll look down here?"
"Yeah," Jungwon nodded before immediately turning into his bat self again and flying upwards.
I let out a small sigh as my attention directed to the shelf in front of me. There were a lot of books to look through. It better be here, it would be the most obvious section for it to be in. But to be honest I didn't know exactly what book title I was to look for, I just knew what it needed to tell me about.
Letting out another huff I began looking through the various book titles in front of me.
'Anatomy of Bloodsuckers'
'What is a Vampire? How to Get Rid of Them'
'101 on Protection Against Vampires'
'Vampire: Turning and Reversal'My eyes widened at the booktitle in front of me, making me immediately pull out the book and dust it off. It was too obvious. Too good to be true.
"Jungwon-ah?" I called out having Jungwon soon stand in front of me, with the book between us, "I think I hit the jackpot."
"Vampire: Turning and Reversal," Jungwon muttered as he read the booktitle, "it's almost too good to be true."
"You know what this means, right?" I questioned and grinned widely up at him.
"We'll be out soon," he said and I nodded at him.
"Exactly," I smiled at him, making him quickly cup my face in his hands.
"You're absolutely brilliant Ahn Jiyeon, what would I have done without you?" he let out a small giggle as he bent his head down to level with mine.
"Run around sucking blood after the next 8 months have run out," I let out a small laugh at him, making him just grin in return.
"So... let's figure out how we fix me."
