Once I woke up there was light in the room, making an immediate wave of relief flood over me. I felt myself immediately relax before I realized Jungwon still had his arms wrapped tightly around me and I had mine tightly around him. I stiffened up quickly and felt my cheeks flame in a red color.
"Relax... it's just me," Jungwon let out a small laugh and I snapped my head up and looked down at him with wide eyes, "morning sleepy," he cutely smiled making me immediately turn more red, "what? Is the problem that it's me that's holding onto you? Is that why you're blushing?"
"I'd rather not answer that question," I slowly replied as I let myself fall back down into the mattress again.
"Slept well?" Jungwon questioned and I just nodded at him.
"Terribly hungry... but it's fine," I muttered and rubbed my eyes, acknowledging the nauseous feeling my hunger was giving me, "just promise to catch me if I faint..."
"We'll find some water for us... don't worry," he assured, making my eyes go wide and look at him. Realization had just hit me, and it had hit me hard.
"I had a small backpack with me when we were at the carnival, right?" I questioned him and he just nodded before he frowned, "I had a water bottle and food in that!"
"Where is it now?" Jungwon eagerly sat up and looked around.
"Either it's in the broom closet where we slept the first night... or I left it on the bench at the carnival..." my eyes slowly widened in realization as Jungwon just looked down at me.
"We need to get back to the broom closet," he realized and I nodded in agreement, "it might take a day but then we'll have food and water... to survive."
"We need to go... like... right now!" I started and he immediately nodded before pulling me up from the bed and immediately rushing to the door and unlocking it without a second thought, for once, "Jungwon... check the hallway!" I urged him to just look back at me before realizing what he had just done.
"They're not out in daylight," he shook his head at me.
"But yesterday... when those two men-" I began making him immediately cut me off.
"Didn't you see? They wore capes with hoods," Jungwon recalled.
"So? They can still walk around out there," I reminded him and pointed to the hallway.
Jungwon let out a small sigh before checking the hallway before nodding and softly grabbing my hand, pulling me out to him in the hallway.
"So now we track the way we walked... and walk it backwards," I pulled in a deep breath before sighing.
"We're just walking to the end of the hallways until we reach the first one," Jungwon nodded at me.
"Are you sure?" I questioned and he immediately hummed with a small smile on his face.
"That's how I remember it," he nodded at me.
"Okay... well... then I guess I trust you," I nodded at him as my stomach grumbled making me let out a sigh, "you know... normally I would find that embarrassing but I'm too hungry to even care by now."
"It's cute," he shrugged and tugged me along with him down the hallway, "and my fault because I wouldn't let you eat any of the food here."
"It's fine..." I shrugged and gave his hand a small squeeze, "I mean... I get why you wouldn't let me eat any of it... I just wonder... you know... what about the others?"
"Others?" he frowned at me and I just nodded at him.
"You know the other pairs that is trying to do the same as us," I clarified and he let out a small gasp in realization of what I was talking about.
"I didn't think about that..." he immediately frowned, "what do they do?"
"Who knows? Maybe they're already out of here..." I shrugged as I slowly trailed off, "we might be the last pair left to get out."
"I hope the hyungs get out well," Jungwon immediately nodded as he eagerly looked out the windows.
"How about we worry about you before we worry about them?" I softly questioned making them look down at me in shock, "I know it sounds harsh, but right now our biggest worry should be about you."
"Okay... yeah... you're right," he nodded in agreement, making me softly smile.
We continued to walk through the castle, as we could see the sun pass on the sky, outside the windows. Once the sun had begun going it's way down from the sky again I had felt my steps get heavier with each step I took.
It literally felt like I had a dumbbell around each of my ankles, everytime I set my foot down to take another step, and it was even worse when I tried lifting my feet off of the ground. It was just pure exhaustion I felt wash over me with each step and my head slowly getting more and more dizzy, the longer we walked.
"Come on, we got to hurry," Jungwon urged and tugged on my hand as I began falling behind him, "Ji, come on!"
"Jungwon... I don't feel so good," I admitted as I stopped walking, stopping him as well as he turned to look at me with a confused look on his face.
"What do you mean you don't feel so good?" he questioned as I looked up at him, "there's been no problems all day, we've just been walking."
"I think that's just the problem," I hummed at him, "I really don't feel good."
"Woah... yeah, okay, I see that," he quickly rushed back to me and wrapped an arm over behind my back trying to keep me standing straight, "what is up with you?"
"No energy," I excused, "see? This is why we need food and water..."
"Exactly how are you feeling?" he clarified.
"I think I have to throw up... but have nothing... you know... food," I stated and pointed to my stomach before dark spots appeared in front of my eyes., "actually... I think you need to hold on tight."
"What?" Jungwon frowned at me as I slowly reached up a hand to hold onto his shoulder, closing my eyes as I tried to regain my balance, "get on my back. I'll carry you somewhere we can rest the night."
I slowly nodded as Jungwon turned his back to me and carefully helped me get up on his back, as I wrapped my arms loosely around his neck.
"Try and stay conscious, okay? I'll make sure we find food and water quick as possible," Jungwon assured and I just hummed as I nodded, keeping my eyes closed.
"I'll try," I muttered in return as I rested my head on his shoulder.
"I'm so sorry Ji, I didn't want it to get to this," Jungwon sighed as I could feel him begin to walk along the hallways once again, "I promise from now on I'll take better care of you in here."
"It's fine," I muttered, "I just need to be stronger."
"You're just strong enough, a human isn't supposed to be this active without eating or drinking for two days," he softly reminded me, "just try and relax a bit, okay? I'll get us to safety."
"Mhm... thank you..."
