You're more than the Sky

Oliver realizes that Sara Lin means more to him than the Sky

Inspired by Fast Pass Episode 200 and 201

(THIS IS Spoilerish! If you don't have access to it, I'd wait but if you don't care or it's published by now, then continue on!)

Oliver reads the lyrics Sky gave to him and sighs deeply. Why is it that no matter how much he tries, someone's heart is bound to get broken? He is just trying his best to keep everyone happy. He thinks back to things Sara said as they walked home 

"Stop telling me what you think I deserve! I want you, ok?!"

"I just want you to be happy Oliver!"

"Take all the time to figure yourself out. With or without me, I'll be okay!"

"What if...I finally figure it out but you move on to someone else? What would I do then?" Oliver mumbles as he glances at the pig from their arcade date. The pig stares at him, almost as if silently screaming at him to make a choice already. Oliver sighed heavily as he glanced between Sky's lyrics and the pig Sara Lin gave him.

"If...I am so worried about her moving on, maybe...I know more than I think but what about..." Oliver trails off, reading Sky's lyrics for the umpteenth time. He knows she put her heart and soul into this. At one point, they were best friends and he even wanted this. He wanted to be with her but that...was before he knew Sara Lin. That was before she knocked him off his feet and made him question love in the first place.

If he didn't meet her, he wouldn't even be questioning this but he doesn't regret it for a bit. He knew Sara had a hold on him from the very moment he saw this adorable red haired girl asking him the most insane question at the subway station. As he got to know her personality, while it did annoy him at first, he grew to adore the girl as he got to know her and wished nothing but the best for her but...was that him?

Oliver took a deep breath again, deciding that maybe he should sleep on it and the answers would come to him sometime soon. As he looked at the pig plush staring him back once again, he closed his eyes and began to dream.

"Oliver, I want you to meet someone!" Sara Lin smiles as she pulls him by the wrist. 

"Who am I meeting?" Oliver asked confused. He was just reading in the library before Sara pulled him by the wrist, knocking him out of his book oasis.

"You'll see!" She smiles. Oliver didn't know what made her smile like that but he knew that as long as she was happy, he was too. It was all he could ask for.

"Oliver, meet James! He's my boyfriend! He transferred her two months ago remember?" Sara smiles. She runs to James and hugs him, breaking Oliver's heart in the process. He didn't know what to do.

"I know you and Sky are together but I wanted to show you that I was okay. Maybe we could double date! Right James?" She asked and he smiled, putting an arm around her happily.

"Wait, Sky and I are together? What's going on?" Oliver asked, wondering where on Earth she got that revelation. Sara explained that he gently broke it to her that he wanted to pursue Sky and while that crushed her at first, she was finally moving on to someone new.

"Wait!" Oliver said but Sara and James kept walking in hand and hand.

"Sara! No!" Oliver said.

"SARA LIN!" Oliver yelled, waking up from his alarm, the bed jolting in the process. Joe raised his eyebrow in amusement as he fixed his shirt. He knew something had happened since Vicky told him, but Oliver hadn't fully made the jump yet.

"When you're done thinking about Sara Lin, I'll be waiting out here with her so we can all walk together." Joe quips as he slings his backpack over his shoulder and heads out the door.

He gives Joe an annoyed look as he turns off his alarm and glances at the pig and the rumpled paper on his bed. He knew what he needed to do.

After they got to school, Oliver wanders away and messages Sky on his phone.

[Sky⭐☁️

Oliver: Hey Sky, can we talk after school today?

Sky⭐☁️: I'd like that Oliver. I'll meet you over there since I get out earlier

Oliver: Okay. See you soon.]

Once school let out, he finds Sky by the stairs looking around the school. She waves him over and hugs him and he hesitates a second before hugging him too. Sky took one look at Oliver and knew exactly where this conversation was going. They began walking away from the school and before Oliver could say anything, Sky started them off.

"You're choosing her...aren't you?" Sky said, sadly looking to him and Oliver sighs as he readjusted his backpack. The last thing he wanted to do was hurt someone and based on how he looked, he didn't do a good job.

"Sky, I...A long time ago, it was you. I wanted it to be you so badly for a long time. I know that you and I were close and I was here for you through a lot but-"

"Then why her? What does she have that I don't Oliver? She dated your brother for crying out loud!" Sky said in tears and Oliver took a breath. While he knew that was true, he also knew more about the relationship than Sky. He knew how their relationship went. He saw right through them and she didn't go to school here to see any of it.

"Sky, I know both of them well and know they both want me to be happy. They didn't work out but that doesn't mean that Sara and I won't. Joe and I are two different people and you need to understand that. You knew the past me and she changed me for the better." Oliver said talking fast but smiling towards the end. If he didn't know before, he knew it was Sara Lin now.

Sky stared at him, noticing the subtle yet good changes. She noticed it over the months but didn't realize it was cause of her. She made him a better person and she knew she had to let him go. He didn't give her the same look that she saw him give Sara.

"If she makes you happy, then be with her Oliver but be careful. Love is tough"

"but so are we" Oliver mumbled and Sky couldn't help but smile. She knew Oliver was ready and she was so proud of him. She gave him one more hug that she needed. She knew things wouldn't be the same after this, but for the better.

"Go get her"

This one was long so I'm debating a part 2 or leaving it open ended for you to imagine in your mind. I'll leave this because I haven't been able to update in ages :)
