I was sitting in English when reading my favorite Greek Mythology books and wondering if I should try and learn to speak Greek, when Mr. Bruner called on me – breaking me out of my reverie.  My eyes widened because I realized everyone’s eyes were on me. He gave me a look like ‘answer the question Olympia’ I blushed and said “um….One Direction?” The whole class started to laugh. I frowned. It isn’t like Mr. Bruner hates me – I do really well in his class. I have to – if I want to go to a good university and have a scholarship that is. He just shook his head and smiled. He wheeled back over to the chalkboard- yes my teacher is in a wheelchair and honestly he is my favorite teacher. He’s so friendly and understanding of the situation I have at home. He knows that I have to take care of my sister and my grandma – plus, I have to clean the house because my mom is always working. So, that means if I need an extension on homework or some sort of project he lets me have a couple of days extra. None of my ‘friends have ever been to my house either. I tugged at a lock of my silvery purple hair – a nervous habit. He turned to one of the jocks in the class “Ashlynn – can you please tell me what Romeo is saying in this text” Ashlynn began talking away. I slumped back in my seat. After about twenty minutes of listening to Ashlynn argue with Mr. Bruner about who was right – the bell rang, signaling the end of the day. I stood and started to rush out into the hall. I had to hurry – I had to go and pick my sister up from Kindergarten. Mr. Bruner's deep voice called after me “Olympia! Come back here for a second please?” I turned and walk back inside quickly “Sir – I have to go pick my sister Delilah up from school!” He smiled kindly at me “Ms. Marin – I have already spoken to your mother – I told her I would be keeping you after class today – so she has made arrangements for your grandmother to pick Delilah up” I slowly nodded my head in confusion and set my books on a desk in the front row. I looked around me and saw a tall brunette sitting next to me. I hadn’t even noticed her she was that quiet! I smiled at her and said “I’m Olympia Marin!” She half smiled and answered “I’m Elene” Mr. Bruner cleared his throat. “Girls, I have wanted to talk to you both for a while” He trailed off. I glanced at Elene. She shrugged. “You girls, you girls are very different from everybody else” My face turned into a look of pure confusion “What?” Elene asked shyly. “You girls belong to a special race of people, a race called Demi – Gods” My eyes widened – wait, was he talking about the half human, half god offspring from Greek Mythology? He smiled “I see you both know that term then?” My jaw was hanging open. He was just playing a joke right? I’m pretty sure today was not April fool’s Day. “Demi gods don’t exist! It’s all Mythology!” Elene stated. I nodded in agreement. “Oh no girls, it’s all very real – the stories and legends, they actually happened. The monsters? Their real.” I shook my head to attempt to clear it. “That isn’t possible!” I muttered quietly and tugging on a lock of hair. “I guess I’m not going to be convincing you girls am I?” He said with a disappointed sigh “Well, you’ll see soon enough.” I stood “Can we go now?” He nodded slowly. I walked to the door and asked Elene “Are you coming?” With a friendly smile. She blushed and nodded, quickly grabbing her books and taking long easy strides over to where I was standing. Man, this girl is freaking tall! I had to look up! Okay, well it’s not that hard to tower over me – I’m only 4’9. We walked out of the classroom and to our lockers which were surprisingly close. I began putting my books in my back and then took it out and shut my locker. I walked over to her “So are you walking home?” She nodded. I waited for her to grab her stuff “You don’t have to wait for me” She blushed at me and shut her locker “No it’s fine! I don’t mind – honestly it’s boring not having a friend to walk with! I walk to school every day” I flash her a happy smile. Soon, we were heading out the front doors of the school – only after getting some very dirty looks from the Janitors. We walked for about ten minutes – just randomly talking and giggling about how crazy Mr. Bruner was. Finally I decided to ask where she lived. “17 Elm Street” She answered with a shrug. I smiled and told her I was 36 Elm Street. She grinned and said “Really? I’ve seen you on the street before!” I shrugged smiling “My family is very quiet” We had stopped in front of a wooded area. I hadn’t even realized we had stopped. It was very quiet in the streets today. It was unusual. I was just about to ask her a question when something huge, furry and black came bounding out of the forest at us. It was snarling and growling. I recognized this creature – “IS THAT A HELLHOUND???” I shouted to Elene.
