"Come on Tam Amber we're gonna miss Lucy Gray's interview. I heard the peacekeepers said it would start at 6, by the position of the moon it is 7." I say starting to get anxious that we will miss Lucy Gray's interview.

"I'm working on it Briar Rose, you have to do this carefully." Tam Amber says still twiddling with the tv trying to get it to work. A few minutes later the tv turns on and Tam Amber backs away from the tv carefully as to not mess up the tv. That's when Lucy Gray pops up on the tv. I smile seeing our mama's dress on her looking almost new. How does it look newer than it did when she left. It's been almost two weeks since she has left, but it has felt like an eternity. Lucy Gray steps up to the microphone with a very nice looking guitar that is way nicer than our guitar here.

"Good evening, I'm Lucy Gray Baird of The Covey Baird's." Lucy Gray says looking straight into the camera. She's talking about our band

"I started writing this song in District 12 before I knew what the ending would be. It's my words set to an old tune. Where I'm from we call it a ballad," she says. That's a song that tells a story.

"It's a song that tells a story and I guess this is mine. The Ballad of Lucy Gray Baird. I hope you like it." Lucy Gray says getting a chord ready on the guitar she is playing.

When I was a babe I fell down in the holler.
When I was a girl I fell into your arms.
We fell on hard times and we lost our bright color.
You went to the dogs and I lived by my charms.

I danced for my dinner, spread kisses like honey.
You stole and you gambled and I said you should.
We sang for our suppers, we drank up our money.
Then one day you left, saying I was no good.

Well, all right, I'm bad, but then, you're no prize either.
All right, I'm bad, but then, that's nothing new.
You say you won't love me, I won't love you neither.
Just let me remind you who I am to you.

'Cause I am the one who looks out when you're leaping.
I am the one who knows how you were brave.
And I am the one who heard what you said sleeping.
I'll take that and more when I go to my grave.

It's sooner than later that I'm six feet under.
It's sooner than later that you'll be alone.
So who will you turn to tomorrow, I wonder?
For when the bell rings, lover, you're on your own.

And I am the one who you let see you weeping.
I know the soul that you struggle to save.
Too bad I'm the bet that you lost in the reaping.
Now what will you do when I go to my grave?

When the song finishes I look over at Billy Taupe. I was right it did have something to do with Mayfair, but it was a stupid bet and his stupid gambling . I stand up and go over to Billy Taupe he looks a bit shaken.

"What did you do?" I ask him,

"I didn't do anything, I thought it was a joke," Billy Taupe says.

"Clearly you did something because Lucy Gray is in The Capital for The Hunger Games and her song clearly said something." I say starting to get angrier as I speak.

"I'm sorry," Billy Taupe says.

"Sorry isn't enough anymore Billy Taupe. This is all your fault. It's your fault Lucy Gray is in The Hunger Games. It's your fault Lucy Gray will probably die. This is all your fault and you know it!" I yell at Billy Taupe,

"It was an accident I didn't do it on purpose." Billy Taupe says,

"It doesn't matter if it is an accident or not. It is all your fault and I hate you. I will never forgive you for what you did to Lucy Gray and all of us!" I yell at Billy Taupe,

"Pack a bag Billy Taupe and don't come back here." Barb Azure says looking at Billy Taupe with an expressionless face. I start to breathe faster tears starting to fall down my face as Billy Taupe start to pack a bag. Billy Taupe finishes packing his bag and he walks out without looking back at any of us including CC. I turn around and look at everyone else. Everyone is crying except for Tam Amber which I expected.

"Come here everyone," Barb Azure says sniffling and opening her arms for a hug. Everyone walks over to Barb Azure and we have a group hug and we all keep crying for a while until none of us have any more tears to cry.

"Let's have supper now," Tam Amber says breaking off from the hug.

"Maude Ivory and Briar Rose go get some milk from Shamus, and we'll have some slices of bread for supper." Tam Amber says going over to get a loaf of bread. In times of need Tam Amber can take lead when it's needed which is really helpful at times when it is needed. I take Maude Ivory's hand and I grab a bucket and me and Maude Ivory walk outside towards Shamus.

"Do you want to hold him and I milk her or do you want me to hold her and you milk her?" I ask looking at Maude Ivory.

"I'll hold her and you milk her," Maude Ivory says. I nod and put the bucket under Shamus and I look to make sure Maude Ivory is holding her and I start to milk her. There is a good amount of milk that we get from Shamus after milking her. I pick up the bucket and I carefully take it inside with Maude Ivory right next to me.

"We have the milk," I say walking through the door inside. That's when I see Barb Azure hugging CC. Did I interrupt? I always interrupt it's always an accident though.

"Did we interrupt anything?" I ask timidly,

"No you didn't. Thanks for getting the milk." Barb Azure says as Tam Amber takes the milk and strains it from the bucket into a bowl and then pours some of it into a glass jar so we can save it for later. Tam Amber puts the glass jar in the fridge. Barb Azure let's go of her hug from CC and she passes out slices of bread to everyone and then goes to the fridge and takes out some extra berries that we have from going berry picking last time and she hands some to everyone. We all sit on the floor eating silently and passing around the goats milk to drink. All of supper is silent nobody wants to speak after what happened.

"I'm thinking of going strawberry picking sometime this week." I say quietly,

"That's a good idea," CC says looking at me giving me a quick smile. I nod and finish my slice of bread and berries. It is probably around 8:30 now and I am starting to get tired and I can tell that Maude Ivory and CC are also getting tired.

"Ok I think it's time for the littles to go to bed now." Barb Azure says standing up and going to wash the bowl that we used for the milk. Me Maude Ivory and CC all climb up the ladder to the loft sleepily. We each lay down on our respective cots and I hold Cuppy close to my chest. That's when I get an idea. I climb back down the ladder and I go to our clothes. I find one of Lucy Gray's shirts and I smell it. It still smells like her.

"What are you doing Briar Rose?" Barb Azure asks,

"I'm getting one of Lucy Gray's shirts. It still smells like her." I say trailing off at the end and looking down at her shirt. Barb Azure squats down so she is at eye level with me and pushes some extra hair behind my ear.

"I know you miss her we all do, but everything will work out in the end, ok?" Barb Azure says,

"Ok." I say nodding a little bit,

"Now quick like a bunny go to bed." Barb Azure says looking at the ladder. I nod and climb up the ladder back to the loft and I lay down in my cot holding Cuppy and Lucy Gray's shirt close to me trying to get myself to fall asleep. I close my eyes and think about Lucy Gray. She is alive and well so far, but in one day she will be in that capital arena fighting for her life and seeing her on the tv might be the last time I see her alive. I hope she wins the games but I have no idea if she will or not and that scares me. My sister has raised me since I was a baby since when I was a baby they killed mostly everyone in The Covey except for the six of us who are still here. I don't remember mama or papa but Lucy Gray talks about them how amazing and nice they were. She talked about how mama used to bath her in rose petals when she was younger. I don't know how she remembers so much because mama and papa died when she was 5, but she refuses to tell me how it actually happens. Something about protecting from what actually happened. After thinking so much my hearing starts to go out as I fall asleep.
