"Lucy Gray Baird," mayor Lipp says into the microphone. I am stand next to Barb Azure my mouth gaped open from shock. I am in the back with everyone else who isn't in the reaping. I see my sister start walking towards the front with something in her hand. The thing in her hand is moving though. I would guess it is a snake. They always seem to find their way to her. As she walks forward she stuffs the snake down Mayfair's dress. Mayfair immediately starts screaming and drops to the ground trying to get the snake out of her dress.

When Lucy Gray gets to the stage she gets slapped in the face by Mayor Lipp, i gasp a little at it. She lays on the ground for a little bit. I'm pretty sure trying to get herself together. Crying while on stage is not her thing at all.

You can't take my past,
you can't take my history

I hear Maude Ivory sing from next to me. I look at her and she looks sad. Barb Azure is crying also.

You could take my Pa,
but his names a mystery

And then I hear Tam Amber and Maude Ivory sing together.

Nothing you can take from me,
was ever worth keeping

I hear Lucy Gray sing quietly as she she looks at the crowd of people. She stands up and walks towards the microphone.

Nothing you can take was ever worth keeping

She sings into the microphone

You can't take my charm
you can't take my humor
you can't take my wealth
cause it's just a rumor
Nothing you can take was ever worth keepin
You can't take my sass
You can't take my talkin

She pauses for a second, "you can kiss my ass." Lucy Gray yells into the microphone before she gives a bow with her arms out like a bird

She starts to walk away from the stage, wait I want to say goodbye to her. I might never get to see her. I start to run towards the stage.

"Wait...Lucy Gray" i yell as I run towards the stage. Right before I get to the steps two peacekeepers hold me back. "Lucy Gray!" I yell more frantically trying to take the peacekeepers hands off me and Lucy Gray looks back at me. "I want to say goodbye, lemme say goodbye" I say with tears in my eyes trying to get around the peacekeepers. Lucy Gray walks swiftly towards me until two peacekeepers hold her back. She fights against them a little bit.

"Hey sugar it's ok, I'll see ya soon" Lucy Gray says with a soft smile and I look at her as a tear falls down my cheek.

"I love you," I say quietly.

"I love you too," she says and right as she says that I feel someone wrap their arms around me picking me up and pulling me away from the peacekeepers. I take one last look at Lucy Gray before she walks into the town building

"It's me" Barb Azure whispers in my ear, Barb Azure knows that I have a list of people who can touch me so knowing who touches me when they do it suddenly calms me down. Barb Azure puts me down and holds on to my hand tightly. I know she is doing that so I don't run away. I am really overwhelmed by everything that has happened and what is happening. I look back one last time at the building.

"Come on y'all, let's get back to the house" Barb Azure says somberly. The whole walk back to the house is silent. Nobody talks, I would rather them not talk anyways, I would probably snap at them. We get back to the house and everyone is off. Which makes sense. Most likely Lucy Gray will die. Everyone from District 12 does during The Hunger Games mostly within the first 10 minutes too, but Lucy Gray is smart enough to run away so maybe she won't die as quickly. I just hope it's quickly. I walk out on the porch and sit on the steps looking out on the flowers that we planted in the front yard. It is a hot day so that on top of being overwhelmed is making everything worse. I sit on the steps trying to wrap my brain around what just happened. It all happened so fast. I think for a little bit before something pops into my mind. Did Lucy Gray actually get her name picked or was it just Mayfair trying to get Lucy Gray out of the picture so she could have Billy Taupe all to herself. It is definitely something she would ask her Dad to do for her. I keep sitting on the porch for a couple of hours just staring into the abyss. I would rather do this than think of what could happen to Lucy Gray.
