(Y/n) awoke to a chilly breeze coming in from the window beside her bed. She shivered, pulling her blankets tighter around herself as she opened her blurry eyes to glare at the window. Did she forget to shut it? She almost expected to see snow covering the inside of her room due to the frigid temperature.

Grumbling about just wanting some sleep after her long day, she pulled herself from the bed to go shut it. She hugged her dark nightgown to her frame, feeling goosebumps through the thin fabric as she rubbed her arms, and when she reached the window, she could see her reflection amidst the moon's glow. The moon was still high in the sky, joined by an ensemble of stars that seemed to twinkle down at her. She slid the window shut as her eyes remained on the bright twinkling lights. Space was beautiful, and she didn't nearly stop to admire it enough.

Movement in her reflection caught her eyes, and she whirled just in time to see a dark figure step closer. A shiny object glinted in their hand, and she screamed as they brought it up over their head and down towards her. She willed her legs to move and she just managed to jump out of the way in time. They whirled to face her, and she scrambled backwards towards her bed. "[Dream!]" Her back slammed into the mattress as they brought the knife up again. She kicked at their legs as the blade came down, and she managed to land a hit right as the blade sliced through her gown.

Dream appeared at the foot of her bed and his golden eyelights instantly locked onto the intruder. The next second he was behind them, and his swords crossed in front of the person's neck so if they tried to move towards (Y/n) they'd cut their throat open. "You are trying to hurt my summoner, human." Dream's words were cold as ice, and (Y/n) felt herself shiver as she watched her Guardian glare daggers into the back of the person's head.

"She killed the Waylons' son," the deep voice said, his grip loosening on his blade as he held it off to the side to show compliance.

Dream's swords remained still. "That was my action, not hers. Who sent you?"

"Who do you think, you stupid demon?" the man scoffed.

Dream didn't let the hostility bother him, and his eyelights switched to (Y/n). She met them as they softened. "Are you unharmed, (Y/n)?"

She could hear his worried thoughts and offered a shaky smile. "I'm alright." She used the bed to get to her feet, her legs shaking badly despite her attempt to stay strong. Her arms tightly wrapped around her stomach, holding the ripped fabric of her grown to her body.

"Your clothes are torn," Dream said, concern practically dripping from his teeth at his words. Torn clothes were the least of her worries. Her hand felt along the skin of her chest, finding a small nick the blade just managed to land. Dream's sockets widened. "You hurt my summoner?!" He held the handles of his blades away from the man, making the sharp edges cross together against his throat, drawing blood. The man made a choked sound, his grip tightening on the blade in his hand. He waved it back and forth so the moonlight caught the blade to cast its reflective light toward the window, and before (Y/n) could figure out what he was doing, someone else appeared in the room.

It looked to be a skeleton demon with glowing red eyelights and shark teeth that were bared in a snarl. He was wearing a dark jacket with fur lining the hood, a red t-shirt, black basketball shorts with a gold stripe up the sides, and red high-top sneakers. The moonlight glinted off one golden tooth as his eyelights quickly scanned the room before they landed on Dream. He summoned a jagged bone in his red gloved hand and tried to stab Dream, but Dream teleported out of the way.
