Error stood at the head of the table as (Y/n) and Dream walked in, and Dream led her to a seat and stood behind her, his hands resting on the back of the chair. Outer sat next to her with Slash beside him, and across the table was Swap and Ink. Error's eyelights scanned the room to make sure everybody was there before he began.
"Dream informed me you are planning on locking down this location, correct?" he asked (Y/n), and she nodded. She wasn't sure that was the smartest decision, but since there was no right or wrong choice, she decided to stick with their home field advantage. They knew where everything was, and along with holding sentimental value, it held all of her and her father's magic and demonic related stuff—including her collection of books in the vault upstairs. By now the others had a complete grasp of the layout of the house, and with only one real direction Waylon's men could come from, their only choice was to funnel themselves towards her and her demons should they choose to attack.
Error explained all of this to the others before smirking over at (Y/n). "It's a good thing you chose to stay here because that's my specialty. Nobody gets in or out of my castle without my knowing about it." She faintly recalled the others mentioning he was in charge of Nightmare's castle defenses back in the Underverse with him being the reason it was impregnable. By staying here instead of moving locations, she was playing to his strengths. "I've got my strings covering every entrance, exit, door, and window that Waylon or his demons could use to get in, so if they try, I'll know." Error gestured to the window in the kitchen, over which his blue strings were draped so if the smallest vibration disturbed them—like the window being opened or broken—he'd know. It reminded (Y/n) of how spiders knew their prey was trapped in their web.
"Additionally, we should have routine patrols to make sure nothing is disturbed around or inside the house," Error said, before smirking at Ink. "Get walking, squid."
Ink scowled and crossed his arms. "You're not my boss."
"Ink, do as he says," Dream said cordially. Ink huffed but stood to go patrol the house as Error dipped his head at Dream.
"King." It wasn't a direct 'thank you' so much as it was acknowledgement that the King made his least favorite demon cooperate, but with the respect he put into the one word, it might as well have been. Dream returned the nod graciously. "The fact that Waylon hasn't attacked yet means he's a cautious planner or is simply waiting for us to slip up. It's possible he assumes that (Y/n) and Slash will make another trip out of the house, but if that is the case, it's best not to split up."
"So should Ink be patrolling alone?" Slash asked. He was resting his crossed arms on the table with his jaw on his arms, and he tilted his head with his question.
Error just smirked wider. "He'll be fine." Then he looked down at his notes. "The Renegades should stay with either a Lord, Archdemon, or King since we know for a fact Nightmare and Fell are part of Waylon's entourage. You'll still have to fight like hell against them but it'll improve your chances at least." Outer and Slash exchanged a worried look as Error prattled on, completely unbothered by what he was saying. "Triggering my strings will bring backup too since we're 'all in this together'." Error made a face of disgust at the chumminess of his words. "As for our plan going forward...(Y/n)?" She perked up. "You placed a magical forcefield around the house to prevent a demon's ability to teleport in or out as well as while inside, correct?" She nodded. "Do you have a way of temporarily taking it down?"
"I can stop putting magic into keeping it up," she said, a frown slowly taking shape on her face. That didn't sound smart—even if it was a handicap for her demons, it stopped Waylon from storming their 'castle'.
"Do you know the spell that lets you know whenever a demon teleports in, out, around, or within a barrier?"
"I think we have that, yeah." She'd have to double check her dad's books, but it sounded familiar.
