(Y/n) gained control of her emotions and her shaking before starting the chant in front of the summoning circle, fully aware of the chill between her and Dream but pushing it to the back of her mind. She probably went too far—as evidenced by him snapping at her—but even if she went about it about as poorly as she could've, she knew he needed to hear those words. He might not change his mind but at the very least she tried. She could plant the seed but she couldn't make it grow—she just wished she knew the first thing about seed planting before she was forced to learn on the fly.

When she finished the chant with a "Voco Underverse daemonium Slash!", she looked up at the skeleton that appeared. His bones were white like the others and his eyelights were bright—his right a green heart and the left a yellow star—as they curiously darted down to the summoner. There were flecks of purple paint on his cheekbones like Ink and he wore a wide energetic grin. Fingerless black gloves traveled up his arms, disappearing under an orange jacket that only reached his elbows. He wore an orange bandana with two tails that seemed to stand up like bunny ears, an orange and gray shirt, and blue jeans with a black belt and orange sneakers.

He held a long, orange broadsword in his hands, but it was pointed towards the ground as he leaned towards the girl. "Are you a human? Wow, that must mean I finally got summoned!" His tone was light and excited, his enthusiasm reminding her somewhat of a child as she looked up at him. "Summoner, why have you summoned me?" He tried to put on a menacing tone, attempting to act like a stereotypical demon, but his eyelights were still bright and cheerful so it wasn't very convincing.

"We need your help," (Y/n) said calmly.

Slash finally looked away from her to see the Demon King behind her, and his eyes lit up impossibly more. "Oh, hey Dream!"

"Greetings, Slash." Dream offered a small smile, doing his best to put the spat between him and his summoner in the past and act like it wasn't affecting him anymore.

"I've never been summoned before. Is it normal to see demons you know?" Slash looked down at (Y/n) curiously, his questions frank and straight to the point. She rather liked his blunt honesty, as it seemed different from Ink's in that he seemed more socially aware with how he phrased things.

"Not usually, but this is a special circumstance. Dream wanted me to pull in the cavalry for this, and Error suggested I should summon a couple more demons." Confusion crossed the demon's face at the mention of Error as the girl continued. "Do you think you'd be willing to help us?"

"What do you need me to do?" He grabbed his sword like he was more than ready to fight bad guys just like Swap, and she found her lips pulling into an almost smile.

"We need your help defending my life and Dream's freedom from a very powerful and rich man."

"Sounds difficult, but that makes the challenge that much more rewarding! I'm in." He smirked, and (Y/n) couldn't help but admire the young demon's grit. He didn't fully understand the gravity of their situation but his undampened optimism was refreshing. It was making her feel better already—or maybe she was just desperate to feel some positivity after what happened between her and Dream.
