When a demon summoning goes wrong, a rich and powerful man's son gets killed and (Y/n) is forced to team up with the Demon King that did it to survive the ensuing attempts on her life. | Set in the same demonic skeleton universe as my demon Nightmar...
(Y/n) stood outside the summoning circle in the living room, the lines freshly drawn in the familiar pattern with nothing in her hands. Her breakfast wrappers rested on the end table beside the books she'd used to find the name of the skeleton universe—called the Underverse—and with Dream providing the names of the demons to summon, she was ready to go. A tiny flicker of fear passed through her but she shoved it away. She might not have a summoning book to use as reference, but she knew the ritual by heart. Everything would go smoothly.
Dream's aura of positivity helped give her confidence as he mentally wished her luck, standing just behind her to support her as well as watch over her. He fit the role of Guardian perfectly, and after their heart-to-heart moment not that long ago—as well as watching the Demon King pick at the human-made breakfast sandwich she bought him with childlike fascination, a downright cute display coming from such a dangerous being—she felt completely at ease around him. She was left with more questions about his past just like he became all the more curious about hers, but that could wait. Right now, she needed to summon backup.
(Y/n) chanted Latin at the summoning circle, and the air in the room seemed to be sucked out as the pentagram glowed, slowly turning in a circle. Dream listened intently to her words, each word of the chant holding a specific purpose for being included in the ritual—like how she specified that the demon would be able to understand her when she spoke to it, meaning his sudden grasp of the English language solely came from that part of the ritual. There were also a couple lines devoted to the demon being trapped inside the circle until set free, and that if they remained in the circle for 24 hours, they would die, turning to dust. It amazed him how thorough humans were when it came to this—though they'd been doing this for hundreds of years.
With the final words of "...Voco Underverse daemonium Swap!", a demon appeared in the center of the circle. He stood quickly, facing (Y/n) with bright baby blue eyelights that changed to stars. This skeleton demon had a blue bandana around his neck, with a kind of black battlebody armor across his ribs with shoulder pads, a gray shirt underneath, and blue gloves. Black pants disappeared into blue boots, and he stood a little under Dream, maybe about 6'6"/198 cm—the same height as Fell.

Swap let out a loud laugh that sounded like 'Mweh heh heh' as he stood tall, putting his hands on his hips. "Human! You have summoned the Sansational Swap-" His eyelights bounced up to Dream, who bowed his head in greeting. "Dream!" His eyelights returned to the girl. "Is this your human, my friend?" Dream's sockets widened as (Y/n) nodded.
"I'm (Y/n)," she introduced herself, dipping her head like Dream did.
"Wowzers, you're polite too!" Swap's grin widened. "I can see why Dream claimed you." Her eyes widened this time as Dream frantically shook his head.
"No, Swap, it is not like that!"
"He's just my Guardian," she clarified. Both of their thoughts were a mixture of embarrassed refutes, and they shared an awkward glance as Swap's eyelights turned to question marks.
