Waylon slammed open the doors to his study so they ricocheted off the walls, him and his demons walking through to see Mrs. Waylon, Killer and Horror's heads snap up with surprise. Mrs. Waylon was sat at Waylon's desk, her fingers steepled together as she glared over them at her husband, and her demons immediately assumed fighting positions with the weapons they carried pointed at the intruders.
"Oh please, spare us the struggle," Waylon scoffed, adjusting his cuffs as he walked towards them without a single ounce of trepidation. The fear he felt from the opposing side made his lips curl into a smirk, and he stopped in front of Mrs. Waylon with an icy chill to his blue gaze.
"You expect me to give up?" Mrs. Waylon sneered, her teeth bared up at the rich man as her long fingernails tapped together. Killer and Horror stepped up to either side of Waylon, the business end of their sharp weapons pointing at him but they didn't move to attack. He seemed bored at such a display, and when he glanced at them, their sockets widened as his eyes softened into a light blue hue.
"I expect you to think about your situation logically," Waylon said coldly, the ferocity of his anger still firmly directed at Mrs. Waylon. His demons stepped up behind him, getting in between Nightmare's minions and Waylon. Their expressions were set in cold distaste like their human, ready at the drop of a hat to dispatch Mrs. Waylon's remaining demons.
Mrs. Waylon let out a loud, cruel laugh that made Waylon grimace at the sound. "Logical? You've fooled yourself into thinking your pathetic 'logical' steps to get me to back down instead of fight will work, like you expect me to roll over for you just because you're a big scary man and you have more demons than me." Her smile was as mocking as her words, and Waylon's eye twitched as he held back a snarl. "You're nothing but an old man who lacked the spine to do what was necessary to make his company prosper."
"At the cost of innocent lives?" Mafia scoffed, his teeth clutching his cigar hard enough to cut clear through it. "You corrupted Bossman's company."
Mrs. Waylon laughed again, this one equally deranged and twice as mad. "I did what needed to be done regardless of the consequences. I'd be a Queen in your world, demon!"
"No Queen any demon would follow," Waylon growled. His demons nodded at that, Fell's teeth grit with concealed fury while Mafia, Silver, and G simply glared at what the woman had the gall to suggest. There was a stark difference between cruelty for the sake of it and doing what needed to be done for the greater good, and it was clear she couldn't distinguish the difference between the two anymore.
"Maybe not," Mrs. Waylon agreed with a lazy sweep of her hand. "But if you honestly think your puny demons will stop me then you've forgotten the power I hold over yours just by being born a woman." The demons beside Waylon shifted uncomfortably at this but Waylon only smirked.
"Yet humans have no such hangups." He leaned over the desk, his smirk as cruel as hers. "So I suggest you start bargaining for your life or risk dying at my hand."
Mrs. Waylon only laughed. "You don't scare me and you never have. I hold all the power in this company and this relationship, but it's cute you think any differently."
Her lack of respect was starting to irk Waylon, and he grit his teeth and slammed his hands on the desk, shouting, "You want to die, is that it?"
Horror and Killer startled but Mrs. Waylon pinned him with a wide smirk. "The only reason you haven't done it already is because you still care for me deep down, and you'd hate to get my demons killed in the process." She almost made the sentiment sound sweet dripping from her snake mouth.
Waylon scoffed. "I care not for your life, but those that will die because of you do not deserve that fate."
"Sure." She made sure he saw her exaggerated eyeroll as she leaned back in her husband's chair. "You hold no power over me, Ted." Even what had started out as a sweet nickname for Theodore Waylon had been soured, a reminder of what had once been a sweet relationship bringing the whole mood down with it. There was no fixing this without messy methods, not anymore. "So leave before I tell my minions to kill you again."
