(Y/n) walked into the grocery store with Slash, and his eyes widened in amazement at the sheer amount of food he was seeing. She took his hand to drag him along behind her as she grabbed a cart and pushed it around the store. Since she wasn't exactly sure how much longer the demons were going to be with her, she figured it wouldn't hurt to grab more than just what was on Swap's list. Ordering food was already more expensive than getting it at the grocery store, and ordering for all the demons was going to run her bank account dry quickly.

Slash followed her around like a mesmerized child, and she couldn't help but giggle at how adorable his expression was. He noticed her eyes on him and flushed red, awkwardly rubbing the back of his head. "Sorry, is it obvious I'm not really human?" Humans didn't typically stare with utter shock at the vegetables as they got misted, but she couldn't bring herself to tell him to hide his excitement.

"It's alright." She squeezed his hand and he squeezed back, warmth to his gaze as he looked at her before he leaned over the vegetables to examine them like having a selection of curated food at his disposal for the picking was completely out of the norm. She kept her hand in his to take the form of a less noticeable leash so he couldn't wander off without her, but when he stopped in front of the bakery section's donuts, she rose a brow.

"Can we get these?" Slash asked hopefully, pointing to the delicious bakery items.

"You got a sweet tooth?" (Y/n) asked. He smiled like she got it right, so she let him have his pick of the bakery goods. He looked more than ready to eat them before placing them in her cart, but she told him that wasn't something humans do, they had to pay for it first—but at his downright crestfallen reaction, she added she'd let him try them on their way home.

(Y/n) kept her hand in Slash's as they circled the grocery store, grabbing items as they went, and she only let go when she needed both hands to grab another thing on Swap's list. Every new thing that grabbed Slash's attention pulled an excited gasp, and he did plenty of people watching as she focused on getting groceries, but he never strayed from her side.

As she contemplated what type of noodles to buy, Slash tugged on her hand. "That small human is looking at me." She followed his finger to where he was pointing to see a baby in another lady's cart staring wide-eyed at Slash. He shuffled nervously. "Why is it looking at me like that?"

"Babies have a staring problem," she explained with a soft laugh before turning back to the noodles. She released Slash's hand to grab some spaghetti to put in her cart, then she threw in some fettuccine and angel hair just in case—curious what the demons would think of angel hair pasta—before she realized Slash wasn't next to her anymore. She spun around quickly, eyes wide and frantic, before she spotted the demon standing next to the child in the cart that was staring at him. Relaxing instantly, she pushed her cart towards the pair, grabbing some alfredo and red sauce as she did so before resting her crossed arms on the cart handle and watching them.

Slash gently poked the baby's nose, making her giggle as she reached for his hand. Her tiny hand wrapped around his pointer finger and he froze, heterochromic eyes wide as saucers and sparkling like diamonds. The baby mumbled gibberish before giggling again, and Slash smiled down at her as he mumbled gibberish back. The baby's mother looked up at this and gasped, making Slash's head snap up.

"Oh, uh, sorry! Your small human waved at me, and I..." His words tapered off as the woman simply smiled.

"She waved?" She looked down at her child and leaned forward to nuzzle her nose against the baby's, making the baby giggle. "I haven't seen her this happy in a while." Her words were soft, like life had been tough recently, but Slash's ability to make her child happy was more than needed right now.
