Dream lifted the apple to his teeth before suddenly the lights went out, shrouding the room in darkness. (Y/n)'s eyes adjusted to the quick loss of light amidst the momentary confusion, and taking her one opportunity to make a move, she turned and shoved her hand into Nightmare's glowing eye socket. He hissed angrily, the surprise lasting just long enough that someone else grabbed her wrist and she was pulled into a strong chest. The next second, the lights came back on and she saw Dream with an arm around her and both swords crossed in front of him as he stood an arm's length away from his brother. The black apple dropped into her hands as Nightmare sneered at him, his tentacles regrowing from where the ends that were around (Y/n)'s arm had been severed as he glared at Dream.

Swap pushed Horror away in the confusion and used a blockade of bones to stop Horror from touching him, then teleported away. Slash stepped out of the silver demon's hold easily and followed Swap's lead teleporting to the vault. Outer tried to fight Error's strings wound around him but Error was too strong, having seen what was coming due to it being his plan they were following, and his multicolored eyelights flickered uncertainly as he mentally and physically struggled with what to do. Ink flung paint at Dust, pinning him to the wall with it before swiping his giant paintbrush at Error, incidentally severing the strings connecting Outer and Error around Error's left hand. Ink swung his brush back around to try to knock Error's head off his shoulders, but Error dodged, an angry snarl on his teeth as he procured more strings to fling at the brush to stop it.

"Get out of here, Ink," Dream instructed, hesitating to leave before all of his demons got out and gaze worried as he eyed all of the enemy demons in the room and Mrs. Waylon—who hid behind Nightmare immediately with a displeased sneer. Waylon's demons remained motionless, watching the fight without engaging as Nightmare stepped toward Dream. Dream used his swords to block the King's tentacles batting at him before swinging to cut them off, backing up towards Ink and Outer. "Ink!"

"You traitor!" Ink yelled, an uncustomary rage in his eyelights—one of which was a red target. Outer fought to get out of Error's strings, but with Error focusing on avoiding Ink's swings, he was tugged along as Error dodged backwards. "We trusted you, glitch!"

"Ink!" Dream shouted, desperately battling Nightmare off as Horror crept closer, grin eerily wide as his ax trailed along the ground behind him. "Get Outer out of here! Error isn't worth it!" (Y/n) tried to use her magic to keep the minion at bay while Dream poured all of his focus into just keeping Nightmare from scoring a hit, his obvious divided attention—both to his two demons still under threat and the girl in his arms—at his detriment. They couldn't do this for much longer.

"I'm not leaving without his skull!" Ink growled, spinning Broomie in his hands before slashing paint on Error's arm with a stray swipe, making the glitchy demon scream as the paint made a hissing sound against his bones. Outer was abruptly yanked to the side as Error stepped back, almost losing his footing before Outer pulled him back to his feet unintentionally. "Get out of the way!" Ink shoved Outer to the side to get past him, saving the Renegade from a bone attack from Killer the artsy demon wasn't even aware was coming but knocking Outer off balance. The next second Ink was trading blow after blow with Error, the two of them locked in close combat with Outer forcefully pulled along, and seizing his chance, Killer leapt forward with his knife high.

"Outer!" (Y/n) screamed right as the blade came down. Outer's body collapsed to the floor beside his skull, his eyelights out, and Killer swiftly dismembered him with trained efficiency. (Y/n) let out a strangled cry as Dream teleported her back to the vault just in time to avoid Nightmare's sharp tentacle piercing her heart. Ink froze, recalling only then that he was supposed to be watching out for the Renegades as Outer's body turned to dust right in front of him. Error's furious gaze lifted from the dust pile to Ink as a fresh wave of anger overtook him, and he screamed in rage as he used his strings to wrap around Ink's paintbrush, snapping it in half before flinging the pieces at Ink at breakneck speed. Ink caught them as Dream appeared behind him, setting a hand on his shoulder and teleporting away before Error could land a swing on him, the two appearing in the vault surrounded by the other Stars and a heavy silence.
