Nobody in the room moved for a long moment, digesting the words with horrified expressions as the tension turned the air heavy. "You are all still alive because he needs your help." Error ground the words out between clenched teeth like he didn't want to admit it. "If you kill Mrs. Waylon, he dies too, so we must find a way to keep him and his minions alive."

"That's easier said than done," Waylon grumbled, shifting uneasily as he went on. "What needs to be done will produce casualties, but there's a reason it needs to be done at all." It would save people in the long run as well as stop the spread of the infection Mrs. Waylon had started in Waylon's company. It still made Waylon uncomfortable—he still refused to outright say what it was: murdering his wife, like not admitting what 'needed to be done' somehow changed what he was referring to—but his resolve to find another way had long since faded. His wife almost killed him, and she would have succeeded if his demons and (Y/n)'s hadn't been there. There was no redeeming her at this point, and with (Y/n) equally set on killing her, she was as good as dead already.

"Are we sure Nightmare and his minions even deserve to live?" (Y/n) asked, glancing around at the others. Nightmare had been the one to kill her dad and Dance, and for a while there, she thought he'd killed Error too. Sure it was all under Mrs. Waylon's instruction, but Dream never gave (Y/n) the impression that Nightmare was any more redeemable than Mom.

"Of course they do." Error rolled his eyelights. "They were forced into your pathetic mortal contracts just like the rest of your demons, only they were not fortunate enough to be you or Waylon's puppets."

"That's true, they didn't have a choice," Slash piped up, expression concerned at the thought.

"They aren't good demons, Slash." Silver shook his head, voice calm yet sad. "Even back in the Underverse they threatened our lives."

"Are you seriously calling the demon norm an oddity?" Error snapped, crossing his arms as he looked down at Silver. "You killed just as they did."

"Out of necessity, not desire to hurt others," Silver replied, gaze narrowed.

Error scoffed. "Just because we are in the human world does not mean your sins disappear. You are still a demon, Renegade."

"Can we stop fighting?" (Y/n) shouted, her eyes sharp as she met each of their eyes. Slash looked down as Silver rubbed the back of his neck, and Error simply scoffed. She didn't remember Silver and Error having beef, but then, Error was still irate from nearly dying so she couldn't exactly blame him for his attitude, not to mention Waylon's earlier accusation turned the air rife with distrust and unease. She was thrilled Error was back, so why did there have to be so much discourse right now ruining the good news? "I don't care if you don't like each other, the faster we work together and finish this, the sooner you can go home."

"We're going home?" Silver's sockets widened, and everyone turned to Waylon.

The rich man considered his answer for a long moment, taking his time despite the impatient eyes on him. "As long as I have no further use for you, I suppose that would be fine," he finally decided. Silver frowned at the vague answer as (Y/n) sighed.

"I suppose I shouldn't have assumed. My demons are going home after this, but you probably still need them to get your company back on track." She wasn't aware of all the little cogs needed to run a company, but she was fairly certain the demons wouldn't hurt in that regard.

"We can revisit the topic later," Waylon said briskly. "For now, we have something much more pressing that needs to be attended to."

"Like how we are going to do this without killing Boss or his minions," Error said, his gaze level on the others.
