They were all gathered around the table in the kitchen, silence hanging in the air like a thick fog. Nobody moved to break it, every single skeleton's gaze going through the object their eyelights were pinned on. (Y/n)'s angry gaze was on Error's battle plans scattered across the table, and though she'd already looked over everything, her eyes continued flickering from page to page in search of any plan at all to help them now. Error hadn't provided a single step of a plan if they were to fail and he pretended to defect to Waylon's team, and (Y/n) knew why: it wasn't pretend. Error planned to leave them and tricked Dream into playing along. It was ingenious if equally aggravating, and hidden behind all of her anger was pain. She trusted Error, but she should've known better than to trust a demon with a soul as black as his.

Dream stood at the head of the table with arms crossed as his eyelights darted to each of the Stars and (Y/n). Slash sat slumped in a chair across from (Y/n), head resting on the table with no spark to his eyelights. Swap stood next to him, arms also crossed and the beginnings of a frown on his teeth. Ink stood opposite Dream, white eyelights staring at nothing, no hint of emotion at all on his face.

"So what's our plan?" (Y/n) said, startling all the demons in the room at the break in the pervasive silence. "Outer's gone, Error betrayed us, and now Mrs. Waylon's going to come finish the job if we don't come up with a plan now." They needed time to process their grief, but time was not on their side. It was demon normal to move on quickly due to death being so common, but despite the way all the demons tried to give her variations of agreement, there was no heart to it. She never thought she'd see the day any of the Stars weren't optimistic, but it was clear she wasn't the only one struggling with the reality of their situation. Despite how annoying it sometimes got, she could use that unyielding optimism right now.

"Error could portal in at any point," Ink said blankly, his words hollow as his expression. Just like Ink, the forcefield around (Y/n)'s house didn't stop him because, just like Ink, he created a portal instead of teleporting. She'd already put the magical barrier back up around the house to inform her of any magic occurring inside, which would include Error's portals as well as any teleporting demons, but knowing about it didn't prevent chaos from ensuing because of it.

She shivered at the thought, fear making her anger multiply. "Great, so we're not safe here anymore." Error could portal in at any time, and he could easily bring all of the Waylons' demons with him. They were on borrowed time, and despite Dream's aura encouraging her to think positively, it couldn't combat reality.

"We failed to finish this even with Error and Outer," Slash spoke up, looking at the older demons almost desperately. "Are we sure we can do this?" They were down 2 demons—not that that even made a difference. They didn't stand a chance against Mrs. Waylon even with the extra help.

"Not all hope is lost," Dream said calmly, looking at each of the others in the room before focusing on (Y/n). Her negativity was the highest, but none of the others were particularly positive either. Their lack of chances weren't doing him any favors—positivity gave him power and made him stronger, but if this kept up, Nightmare would have more than enough negativity to kill them all.

"Well whenever we decide to throw in the towel, let me know. I'll send you all back so Mrs. Waylon can't get her hands on you." (Y/n) stood, feeling Dream's disappointed gaze on her back as she turned to search through the kitchen cupboards for the alcohol.

"We are not abandoning you to die," Dream said firmly. Slash slumped further in his chair as Swap nodded.

"Because dying together is a better idea?" (Y/n) scoffed. "If the ship is sinking, only the captain stays because nobody else deserves to die because of her screwup."
