Two children arrived on a black horse.

"They had no warning. They were outnumbered." Eyowen says.

It is a heavy burden for anyone to send their children away. They look half starved. They look tired and frightened. I take another whiff of smoke. The storm is growing. The storm is already upon us.

"Where is mama?" The girl asks.

"Shhh... it's okay. You're safe." Eyowen says.

"This is but a taste of Saruman's power. Soon he will be coming for us." Gandalf says.

King Theoden stands up.

"I will not risk open war." He says.

"Open war is already upon you. Whether you except it or not." I say.

King Theoden turns to me.

"When last I checked Theoden not Aragorn was king of Rohan." He says.

I nod respectfully.

"We must fight." Legolas says.

"Fight? How might I ask? We will be completely outrun." Theoden says.

"Eomere  is loyal to you. He will ride to your aid." I say.

"Eomere? Heh. Eomere is three thousand miles away from us." Theoden says.

"You must send word to Gondor." Gandalf says.

"Gondor? Gondor has always abandoned us. They will not come." Theoden says.

"Then what has the king decided?" I ask.

I turn. Legolas was near the door.

"Legolas?" I ask.

"I have to go." He says.

He opens the door and exits.

"That elf has been acting strange for days now." Gimli says.

"Theoden, you must make a decision." Gandalf says.
