I FINALLY GOT A CHAPTER DONE. WHAT THE FUCK. I AM LITERALLY SO PROUD OF MYSELF BUT SO ASHAMED THAT IT TOOK ME TWO MONTHS TO WRITE THAT???!? Anyway, enjoy guys <33
————————————
After few months I started to accept that Remus and I were going to be a family without kids.Even though it hurt, we couldn't do anything about it.
Remus was always there by my side when I was feeling low. Sometimes I still cried to him how I failed him and our baby, but each time he talked to me so gently and promised me I didn't fail anyone.
Even Severus had been visiting us more than ever. But with every passing day, he was getting more worried and nervous. Even though others didn't see it, I saw.
I knew him better than anyone.
It was one gloomy day. We were all in the living room, I was half asleep on Remus' lap when the front door opened with a bang.
I tensed and opened my eyes. Remus placed a comforting hand over my thigh, squeezing it slightly.
"It's just Severus" He whispered and kissed the side of my head.
I looked over to the doorway to find him looking at my way. He motioned with his head to follow him.
I gave a small kiss to Remus before standing up and following father out of the room.
Severus put a silencing charm over to kitchen, making me frown.
"What's up?"
He looked at me, not saying a word until he let out a long sigh.
"Dad?"
He shut his eyes and clenched his jaw.
"Venus-"
"You are worrying me, what's happening?"
"This conversation has to stay between us, understand? Not a single word to Remus or anyone else. Promise me"
I looked at him for a moment before nodding slowly.
"I promise"
Father walked over to me and took my hands in his cold trembling hands. He exhaled and looked at our intertwined hands.
"I need to tell you something"
————————
"Do you hear what they are talking about?"
Sirius asked from Remus' for the fifth time in a row. Remus shook his head and leaned forwards with his hands on his knees.
"They silenced the room"
"Why should they do that?" Sirius mumbled and scrunched his nose.
It was fifteen minutes later when the kitchen door opened and all the heads turned to look at the father and the daughter.
The two walked over to the front door. Venus wrapped her arms tightly around her father's body and buried her face against his neck.
A sob was heard from her.
The two embraced for a long time before Severus had to go. Venus remained standing on the doorway, watching the empty space in front of her, tears streaming down her face.
"Love?"
Remus walked behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist. He gently placed a kiss on top of her head before bringing her tightly against his chest.
"Is everything alright?"
The shook of her head made Remus' heart ache.
"Can you tell me what did he say?"
She shook her head again. Venus turned herself around in his arms and looked up at him with her bloodshot eyes.
"I just...don't ask questions" I whispered "I am not able to answer"
"A-alright. As- as long as you are safe and not in danger I am not going to ask any questions" he said gently.
I nodded and hugged him, snuggling my face against his chest.
"I am going to take a nap"
"Want me to come with you?"
"You don't have to-"
"Let's go"
We laid in the bed, he was holding my trembling body between his arms.
Remus heart was aching. He felt like holding her wasn't enough, but there was nothing he could do.
He caressed her hair and placed kisses on her forehead from time to time. He whispered those same gentle words to her that he had whispered these past few months.
He had promises to protect her, to be there for her, to do everything in his power to hold that pretty smile on her face...but now kissing away the tears he felt disappointed in himself.
Remus managed to bring her a bowl of grapes to lighten up the mood a little. It seemed to help.
Venus let out a small sad chuckle and sat up, taking the bowl from his hands.
"I'm sorry"
"You have nothing to apologize for" Remus said and placed his hand on her knee.
"When was the last time I wasn't such a mess, huh? On our wedding day, months ago-"
"Darling we- we are in a war...bad things happen around us all the time...I can't expect you to be happy every other day-"
"I know" I whispered and took his hand "I just wish we could...just be together and forget about everything for a night..."
"We can do that-"
"How?"
"I have a plan" he kissed her cheek before standing up and walking over to their wardrobe to gather some clothes.

I looked around the house, it was old and dusty.
"Sorry, it's not in the best condition right now-"
"It's okay. That's the famous Lupin's cottage huh" I smiled and walked over to him. I wrapped my arms around his neck and smiled tiredly.
"Yes, the famous Lupin's cottage"
"It's lovely"
"It's...something"
Remus waved his wand and the house was clean within seconds.
He took my hand and lead me over to the terrace. It was spring, meaning that it was warm outsides. The sun was shining, birds were flying and everything was so green.
"It's so pretty"
It was mostly forest around us, but I liked it.
"It's so calm. So...I love it here"
"That's good"
I looked over at Remus who was looking at me with his adorable small smile. He opened his arms for me and I didn't waste any time to hug him.
"We will be okay, you know that, right?"
"I know"
"Whatever happens-"
"Shh"
So we stayed quiet. We sat down on the bench, leaning against each other and looking at the beautiful landscape in front of us.
All the thoughts about war still lingered in our minds, but we didn't talk about them. There were so many questions, but we didn't want any answers. Not yet.
We just held each other, hoping that the other had more peaceful thoughts.
"I love you"
"I love you too"
