Christmas morning

I pulled on Remus' blue cardigan and his forest green woolen socks.

I opened a window to let the cold fresh air in. I lit a candle in the room and made my way over to the bathroom.

I put my hair up in a bun, washed my face, washed my teeth and applied face cream on my face.

After all of that, I walked out of the room and made my way downstairs where I heard kids laughing and adults talking.

I leaned against the living room door and looked how kids were opening their Christmas presents, all had big smiles on their faces.

I smiled a little and then walked to the kitchen to make myself a cup of coffee.

I put on the kettle and leaned against the kitchen counter, looking outside, watching as snow was falling on the ground.

There were some muggles out there. Parents with their kids. They were making snowmen and having snowball fights.

They all seemed so happy. More happy than usually. We didn't see often muggles out there. Just some kids playing around, but never with their parents.

Christmas was a magical time of the year.

The whistle of the kettle brought me back from my small dream. I poured the boiling water into my mug and stirred the coffee in there.

I took my mug and sat down on the chair. I brought my knees up to my chest and sipped the hot coffee.

I felt like I wanted to be alone today. I didn't have any present for anyone as well, except for Remus, so I didn't want to go to the living room and sit with them.

I know they wanted me to be there.

But right now I just hoped no one saw me coming to the kitchen.

But my hopes were dashed when the door opened and Molly and Remus were standing in the doorway.

"Venus!"

"Love?"

I shyly looked up to them and smiled a little.

"Good morning" I said

"Why aren't you in the living room?"

"I don't have presents for an-"

"I doesn't matter, dear. Come and sit with us. We have presents for you"

"You shouldn't have to"

"Nonsense, now, I am going to make coffee and you with Remus are going back to the living room"

She ushered me out of the chair into Remus' hands.

Remus wrapped his hand around my lower back and lead me out of the room. He closed the door, took the mug into his hand and wrapped his arms around me.

I hugged him back, his scent filling my nostrils.

"Good morning, love" he whispered and kissed the top of my head

"Good morning" I whispered back

We stood there, in the hallway, just hugging each other.

"How did you sleep?"

"Very well until you went away"

"Sorry" he chuckled

"I am not forgiving you that easily"

"You can't stay mad at me for long, I know you good enough"

"I am a changed woman now"

He laughed at that. I slapped his chest but smiled too. I leaned up and kissed his Adam's apple.
