Flashback:
It was two years ago, Minji was 13 and Haerin was 12. They were on a family vacation together. Everything went well. Until it didnt. The family was in the kitchen talking about the plans for the day, it was the last day until they head back home. The sun was shining brightly, music was playing and Taehyung, Jennie, Hyewon and Hyein were helping their parents make breakfast for all of them. Haerin and Minji were still in their rooms sleeping. Well, they thought they were sleeping until they heard a loud bang coming from the girl's room.
"GIVE THAT BACK HAERIN" Shouts Minji.
"NO! I'M GONNA SHOW JENNIE UNNIE '' Haerin yells at her from across their room.
The room was a mess. Pillows and bedsheets were on the floor. The luggage that had contained their clothes were now empty. The contents of it all have been mixed with the pillows and the sheets. A standing mirror was knocked down in the process of them trying to run away and catch each other. Broken pieces of the mirror are on the floor, some visible and the others hidden under all things that were thrown at each other.
Both families rush to the girls room and are shocked at the scene. There, on top of the dresser, stands Minji. Staring menacingly at Haerin. Haerin on the other hand was by the foot of the dresser and was holding a notebook. The room was in total disarray and it was like a minefield with the broken glass that's all over the floor. Both Minji and Haerin turn their heads at the door to see their families looking at them with shock. Haerin sees Jennie in the crowd and runs to her with the notebook.
"JENNIE UNNIE! LOOK LOOK!" Haerin screams as she tries to run to Jennie, carefully trying to avoid the broken glass that's all over the floor.
"AHHHHHH" Minji shouts as she jumps off the dresser and lunges onto Haerin. Haerin and Minji tumble onto the floor, Minji tries ripping the notebook out of her hands. Haerin tries to dodge Minji's advances and in the midst of it all a broken shard that has been well hidden between all the mess has scraped Haerin's cheek. Haerin, full of adrenaline doesn't feel it, Minji consumed in her anger doesn't register what has happened. It doesn't fully dawn on them what has happened until their fathers both pull them away from each other.
Minji was able to grab the book from Haerin before her father pulled her away. When they were both far away from each other, that's when it dawned on them of what just happened. Minji, finally calming down, sees blood on Haerin's face. Haerin coming out of the adrenaline rush finally feels the sting on her cheek. She touches her cheek and sees red on her hands. Tears start forming in her eyes. Before Minji could call out her name, their mothers had taken Haerin out of the situation so they could tend to her cut.
Minji has never been so scared for her life. Her father, Mr. Kim is not a man you want upset. He's a strict man, even on vacations he's always so serious. Everything has to be up to his standards or it's below him. I guess that's why he's one of the richest and most powerful men in Korea. He will not be embarrassed, especially not by his daughter in front of his business partner/best friend.
"Minji, you have 2 minutes to explain to me what just happened" he says sternly at Minji, he towers over minji and has his arms crossed. His facial expression can't be read and that's the scary part. He's calm, too calm. Minji know's she has messed up big time. She looked at her feet and stared at a broken piece of mirror by her left foot. She could see her father's expression, she knows that she has to speak now before she angers him more.
"Minji" he says, more stern and deeper than how he talked to her earlier. He's getting upset and all Minju could muster up was her handing him the notebook that she tried taking from Haerin a few moments ago. He grabs the notebook and flips through it. The sound of him flipping through the pages becomes heavier it seems. Minji's ears are ringing. Her vision becomes blurry. She waits for her father to scream at her. For him to do something at least, the silence has become unbearable for Minji. She looks up and sees her father looking down at her with an unreadable expression.
