Chapter 34

The girls make their way downstairs and Minji sees that there's food already laid out on the table. She sits down and looks at the food in front of her, she couldn't decide which one she wanted to eat first.

"How was school?" Minji asks as she stacks her plate up with an assortment of food that's on the table.

"It was fine" Hyein and Dani say as they look at Minji stuffing her mouth full of food. They're glad they asked the maids to make some food for Minji while they were doing their homework.

"Annoying" Haerin says, she was looking at Minji. Hyein and Dani both noticed that she looked annoyed. Minji looks at Haerin, she gulps her food down and asks the girl what she meant by that.

"They wouldn't leave us alone about you" Haerin says, she looks at Minji still annoyed and clicks her tongue. Minji was caught off guard by this as she thought her and Haerin were starting off on better footing today.

"Oh. I'm sorry, you're right, that must've been annoying" Minji apologizes to the girls, she didn't know she'd make such a wave at her old school. She never paid attention to it before, sure there's been rumors of people crushing on her but nobody had actually confessed to her while she was still there and she didn't care enough to think about it.

"It really was. More annoying than dealing with you to be honest" Haerin says, Hyein and Dani both gasps. What is Haerin saying right now? They look at Haerin and Minji. Minji is clenching on the utensil in her hand right now and is looking down at her plate. Haerin keeps her eyes steady on Minji.

"Look, I'm sorry, okay? I didn't think you'd have to deal with any of that" Minji says as she looks up at Haerin, they keep their gaze at each other. Minji speaks up again.

"Did I do something else to upset you? I thought we were starting off on better footing earlier at school." Minji says to Haerin, her eyes pleading Haerin to answer her.

Haerin gets up from the table and walks away from the girls. Minji sighs and pushes the plate away from her. Her appetite is lost and she thanks Hyein and Dani for the food but excuses herself back to her room.

"What is your problem, Haerin?" Hyein stomps her way to Haerin in the living room. Haerin keeps her eyes steady on the book that's on her lap. Dani sits down beside Haerin and hugs the girl, Hyein notices Dani's actions and looks at Haerin; she was crying, the pages on her book stained with tears.

"I thought you said they broke up" Haerin sobs onto Dani's shoulders. Hyein looks at her and opens her mouth.

"He texted her before we went downstairs, I saw it. She still has a heart beside his name and he texted her saying he misses her" Haerin continues to cry.

"She hasn't told me anything. Maybe it's just a misunderstanding, Haerin '' Hyein tries to explain to the girl, she rubs Haerin's arms to try and comfort her. She doesn't know what else to say, the last time she heard of Sunghoon was when her sister broke up with him. Even Yunjin or Hanni hasn't said anything to her about the two getting back together. She hopes that all of this was a misunderstanding.

Minji walks back to her and looks at her phone, she sees a text from Sunghoon. She looks at the time and figures he's probably getting ready for school right now. She calls him up and waits for him to answer, it doesn't take long.

Sunghoon: hey! You're alive

Minji: barely.

Sunghoon: What's wrong? Shouldn't you be all excited or something? Did you see her today?

Minji: I was excited but then that's gone.
