Chapter 9

Minji ran. Away from everyone. She hears the staff calling out to her to stop her from running in the halls but their calls fall on deaf ears. Students could be heard cheering from their classrooms as Minji runs past them. Urging her to run faster. She needs to find her. She needs to tell her now. Before it's too late. Before she'll hate her forever.

Minji stops. She's in the 2nd year Middle school building. She makes her way towards a classroom. She hesitates opening the door to the class, before she could turn around and run away, the door opens. Dani and Minji look at each other, both bewildered.

"Hi Unnie! Are you looking for Hyein? She just stepped out to use the bathroom, she'll be back soon. You can wait by her desk if you'd like" Dani says to her sweetly

Minji's eyes frantically scan for the girl. Her eyes land on Haerin. She was looking at her. Minji was the first one to break eye contact. She turns her head to Dani and tells her that she'll just wait outside for Hyein. Dani excuses herself, she leaves the door open and Minji is standing there. The students were still looking at her, she clears her throat and walks over by the wall outside the door. She's barely visible to the students now, they turn their attention to what they were doing before Minji came. As Minji waits, she could feel eyes on her. She looks up and sees that Haerin is still looking at her. They both looked at each other this time, not breaking eye contact. Until Minji felt a tap on her shoulder. It was Hyein. She was smiling brightly at her. Minji contemplates if she should tell her sister now. She doesn't want to take that smile away from her sister's face.

Minji looks at Hyein and hugs her. Hyein was taken aback by the action. Her sister rarely shows PDA at school. Even if she does, she rarely initiates it. Hyein hugs her back and looks at her with concern. She asks her sister what's wrong and she could see Minji fighting back tears. Minji takes a deep breath again. I guess she'll be breaking a lot of hearts today. So Minji tells her. Minji tells her everything. Hyein's expressions are now pained and angered. She yells at Minji. Minji is taken aback since she's never heard her sister yell angrily before. The whole class's attention is now back to the sisters. Some have moved closer to the door to hear their conversation.

"WHY UNNIE?! WHY ARE YOU JUST TELLING ME NOW?" Hyein yells at her. Her tears threatening to fall.

Minji tries to reach out for Hyein's hands and Hyein swats it away. She looks at her sister. Hyein looks back at her with anger, confusion and pain.

"When are you leaving?" Hyein asks quietly.

"In 3 days." Minji says weakly.

"We still have a week of school left. Does Oppa know?" Hyein asks, she doesn't understand why her sister is now just telling her this and why is she leaving so soon when they still have a week of school left.

"Oppa knows. I asked him to not tell you yet, i wanted to be the one to tell it to you. Mom and Dad want me to be there earlier than what was planned, they want me to move all my stuff at Uncle Jin's house before the internship begins." Minji answers her. Eyes looking at the ground. Not daring to make eye contact with her sister.

Hyein nods at her. Minji's phone rings and she saw that it was Chan calling her. Hyein excuses herself and tells her to go to her friends. Before leaving, Hyein looks at Minji and gives her a tight hug.

"I'm still upset with you unnie but we'll talk more about this at home" Hyein says during the hug. Minji nods. She looked up and saw that Haerin has been looking at them this whole time. Minji can see a frown on her face. She was probably angry at her cause she upset her sister. Haerin has always been protective over Hyein. They let go of each other's embrace and Hyein watches as her sister leaves the building. Seeing her walk away stirred the emotions in Hyein that she's been holding back. She starts crying in the middle of the hallway. Dani approaches her first, she's been hiding by the wall beside the two girls as she didn't want to interrupt their conversation.
