It was almost time for dinner but Minji was still nowhere to be found. Her phone has been dead silent since this afternoon. Jennie and Taehyung arrived two hours ago and have been trying to get a hold of the girl but it went straight to voicemail.
"Okay, where the hell is she?" Jennie asks annoyed, she pushes Taehyung's shoulder and he looks at her offended.
"We seriously got here at the same time! And I've been trying to contact her as well. What makes you think I know?" Taehyung says to her, he gives her a glare and rubs his shoulders.
"Sorry. I'm just worried, Tae. Nobody has gotten a hold of her since this morning. Hyein said that Taec Oppa saw her get in someone's car today" Jennie explains to Taehyung with a sigh.
"Who's car?" Taehyung asks, he grabs his car keys as he gets ready to pick up wherever his little sister is with.
"What are you going to do? Pick her up? We don't even know where she is right now" Jennie tells Taehyung, she looks over her shoulders and sees that Haerin has been zoning out on the couch right now. Hyein and Hyewon are trying to talk to the girl but she ignores them.
"Is Minji back?" Taehyung hears his mother ask, he looks at her and shakes his head.
"Dinner is in 10 mins." His mother reminds him. Taehyung prays to the Gods that Minji walks in the front door before this family dinner starts.
As if the God's heard his prayers, the front door opens and in walks Minji; she was covered in charcoal and was holding a medium sized canvas that was covered.
"JESUS MINJI! WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?" Jennie screams as Minji walks in the door. Haerin's head whips to the sound of her sister's voice and tries to see Minji but her vision is covered with Jennie and Taehyung's figure hovering over the Minji.
"You look like a mess, let's get you cleaned up real quick" Jennie says as she tries to usher Minji up her room.
"Where's Haerin?" Minji stops Jennie from pushing her and looks over the older girl's shoulder.
Minji pushes the older siblings away and makes her way to where Haerin sat. Hyewon and Hyein were looking at her disheveled appearance and they looked at Haerin. The girl has a stoic expression as she keeps her gaze onto the floor, refusing to make eye contact with Minji
Minji kneels down on to the floor and gets on Haerin's eye level. Haerin and Minji finally make eye contact and Haerin could see that Minji's face and hands were covered in charcoal. Minji gave her a smile and reached out her charcoal covered hands for Haerin to take. Haerin hesitantly looks at the hands that were outstretched in front of her and at Minji who's still smiling at her.
Their parents walk in and they see that Minji was kneeling in front of Haerin. Minji looked like she was a mess. As Minji's father was about to say something to her, Haerin's mom and Minji's mother pull him aside and tell him to leave the girls alone, it's their night anyways. Minji's father sighs and walks back to his office.
"Haerin, please. Just come with me for a moment" Minji pleads with Haerin. She watches as Haerin gingerly takes her hands, she stands up and leads the girl up to her room; ignoring their siblings stare at them.
Minji shuts her door close. Haerin removes her hands from Minji's hold and stands in Minji's room awkwardly.
"You look beautiful" Minji tells Haerin, she looks over at the girl in front of her. Her hair was down with slight waves, perfectly framing her face. The dress that she was wearing made her look like a princess, Minji gulped at the sight of the girl in front of her. She looked so ethereal that Minji doesn't know if this is real or a dream.
"And you look like you just fought with a fireplace," Haerin says as she looks at Minji's appearance. Minji laughs and as she makes her way to her desk, she sets down the canvas that she was holding and goes to her laptop.
"Did the fireplace win?" Haerin continues as she watches Minji set up. Minji turns around and gives her a smile. She moves closer to Haerin, both of their heart rates quickens by how close they are to each other.
"Haerin, I'm sorry about last night. I'm not really good at expressing my feelings with words and I didn't know how to react last night. I got scared and my first reaction was to run away. I want to tell you something, but I want to do it right; without messing up. So I'm doing it the best way I could think of." Minji says as she takes a step back from Haerin, she doesn't get far as Haerin pulls her closer to her again. Minji smiles at her and takes Haerin with her to her laptop, she presses play on the song "Eyes" by Bazzi start echoing in Minji's room.
"I was listening to this song as I was sketching something for you" Minji explains to Haerin, Haerin blinks at her in confusion and Minji takes both of them to where the canvas sat. She uncovers it and Haerin's gasps at the sketch that Minji has drawn for her.
Minji has sketched Haerin's eyes; where her iris and pupil is supposed to be, Minji has sketched a story of them instead. In her left eye, she sees two figures sitting by the tree as they huddle over. Haerin remembers that tree, as that's where they used to sit when they were kids when she used to watch Minji draw all day. In her right eye, she sees the same figures, taller this time time; instead of being huddled together, they stand in front of each other. Haerin slightly gasps again as she sees that the taller figure is leaning in closer to the shorter figure, it looks like they were kissing. Haerin looks at Minji and the canvas in front of her.
Minji has her eyes closed. She was scared of Haerin's reaction. Minji starts doubting herself and telling her how stupid it is for her to confess her feelings like this. The song still echoes in Minji's room. Minji stands there, tense until she feels a hand reach for hers.
"Minji..." Minji opens her eyes and sees that Haerin is only a few inches away from her.
"yes.."Minji squeaks out. Haerin looks at the older girl in front of her, she could feel the girl shaking. Minji is as nervous as she was, Haerin takes a deep breath and leans in towards Minji. She's not going to let Minji run away this time, not after what Minji has just indirectly told her through her drawing and song.
As Haerin inches closer, Minji takes a deep breath. She feels her heart pounding. They both inch closer to each other, music still playing over their heads.
*KNOCK KNOCK* "Minji, Haerin. Are you guys almost done? The food is getting cold" They both recoil from each other as they hear Minji's mom call out to them. Minji scrambles to turn off the music and manages to answer her mother.
"Mhm. just about" Minji says, she hears her mother say okay and tells them to head downstairs.
Minji stands there awkwardly, she looks at Haerin like a scared puppy.
"Let's get you cleaned up" Haerin says as she pulls Minji to her bathroom. Minji washes her hands to get rid of the charcoal and Haerin wets a towel for Minji's face. She turns Minji to face her as she starts to wipe the charcoal off of the girl's face. As Haerin continues to wipe her face, she feels Minji stop her hands from moving. She sees that Minji is intensely looking at her, Haerin gulps and closes her eyes and in one swift motion, Minji finally captures Haerin's lips.
The kiss was slow and chaste. They both pull away from each other, slowly opening their eyes. They lean forward to each other again and their foreheads touch, they smile at each other; Minji still holding on to Haerin's hands, intertwines their fingers together and brings Haerin's hands to her lips and gives it a kiss. Haerin smiles at the sweet gesture and pulls away from Minji, she sees the older girl pout at her from the loss of contact.
"You need to get cleaned up. I'll see you downstairs, okay?" Haerin says as she cups Minji's face. She leans in and gives the older girl a kiss on the cheeks before leaving Minji's room.
