Chapter 17

It seems like the right time is never going to come. Minji and Sunhoon still haven't kissed and Minji still hasn't talked to Hanni and Yunjin about the sketches in her notebook. It's now the end of November and it seems like Minji is back to how she was when she was in Korea. Jin broke the news to her about her parents coming over for the holidays a few days after her big game. His excuse was that he didn't want to ruin her moment with such heavy news. She understands though cause he was right, the news that her parents were coming over really did put a damper in her mood.

On the plus side, at least she gets to see her sister and brother soon. Minji was looking forward to finally seeing them, she missed them so much. Still, she was dreading her parents coming over. They haven't really spoken since she left, they mostly talk to Jin about her and he just passes on their message to her.

"We're going to have to hide your painting stuff before they come over, Minji." Jin reminds her, they've been cleaning and rearranging the house since this morning. Minji looks at her Uncle and just looks down. She forgot that she had to hide her drawings and paintings away again. She got so used to just living freely like how she wanted that she forgot that can't be who is in front of her own parents.

"I know."Minji says, barely audible for Jin to hear. He walks up to her and hugs her, it hurts him to see her like this. She was just coming out of shell and now she has to go back and hide again.

"Joon says you can put it in his studio while they're here. Maybe you can use that as a way to get away from them too if it gets too unbearable." Jin reassures her. 

Minji's phone vibrates and sees that Sunghoon has texted her. He tells her he's outside their house. She excuses himself and makes her way to the door. She makes her way towards his car and he gives her a hug and kiss on the cheeks.

"Hey, is everything alright?" he asks her, she's been a bit distant for the past few days now and Sunghoon wanted to check up on her and ask her if he did anything to upset her.

"Hi. Yeah, everything is alright. Sorry I've just been super busy lately. My parents are coming over for the holiday so Uncle Jin and I are just cleaning up and making sure everything is in order before they arrive." Minji explains quickly. She doesn't really want to go into further detail than that. Her and Sunghoon's relationship has been smooth sailing, she really doesn't want to complicate things with her family situation.

Sunghoon nods and wraps his arms around Minji. She hugs him back and he feels her body relax into his. He looks down at her and watches as she sighs in content. He slightly laughs at how cute she looks right now. Minji looks up as she hears Sunghoon laugh, he's looking at her with such caring eyes. They both keep their gaze at each other, Sunghoon slightly leaning in. He stops inches from her face, waiting for permission to continue. Minji looks at him and nods. Is this the right time for this? She asks herself. She doesn't know but it's happening now.

Their lips touch. Sunghoon brings his hands up to cup Minji's face. He leans closer to her face and kisses her gently one last time before pulling away. He's smiling to himself. Minji's head was down, her whole face was burning. Before they could say anything to each other, Minji's phone rang. It was Jin. He wants her to help him load up her art supplies in the car before it gets too late. Sunghoon looks at her and nods, he understands. Before leaving, Sunghoon gives her a hug and kiss, this time on her lips. He smiles at her and she can't help but smile back at him.

"Text me later" he says to her as he gets inside his car. He waits until Minji gets inside the house before driving away. He was all smiles on his drive back, he needed to tell Sunoo about this. Sunghoon has been venting to Sunoo about him and Minji still not kissing since they started going out. He wondered if he did something wrong but Sunoo reassures him that he just needs to be patient and that maybe Minji isn't ready yet. This is a great development for their relationship, he's excited to share it with his best friend.
