Girl, Get up.

Chapter 21

"Hyein-ah, come on" Haerin calls out to her friend, she's been on her phone all morning. They have to get to school earlier than usual as they're helping out the student council before winter break starts. She drags Hyein towards Ador Academy's main building. They pass by multiple lockers, trying to get to theirs before they're late and get a scolding from her older sister.

Haerin opens up her locker and starts to put her stuff away, she looks around and sees that Hyein is still busy looking at her phone. She grabs one of her notebooks and at the bottom of it there is a note. The paper is already discolored, indicating that it's been years since Haerin has gotten it. She quietly opens up the note and smiles. It was one of Minji's last drawings that she gave Haerin, it was a cat and sunflowers and a note telling "kitty Kang" to have a good day. It's been years but Haerin has kept the note all these years. Hyein closing her locker tears Haerin's gaze off the paper, she hurriedly puts it back to her secret hiding place and closes her locker.

"Seriously, what have you been looking at your phone all morning for?" Haerin asks, Hyein's eyes are still glued to the device. Hyein finally looks at her and holds up her phone to Haerin's face. It was a picture of Minji. She was in a soccer uniform, her shirt was slightly riled up, her abs out there for the world to see. Beside her are two girls, one was also wearing a soccer uniform and the other with a cheerleading uniform. She guesses that the two beside Minji were her friend and girlfriend, Yunjin and Hanni. The three looked awfully close, the girl, Haerin guessed was Yunjin had her arms draped over Minji's shoulder, she was laughing at the girl that was on the grass. She guesses that it was Hanni, since she recognizes her from a phone call a few months ago. She looked at Minji, she was laughing, she had her shirt slightly lifted up, a soccer ball on one hand and Hanni's head on the other.

Haerin hasn't seen Minji smile that wide in a long time, the last time she saw her smiling was when she was proudly showing her one of sketches. She glosses over the fact that she could see Minji's abs. When did she have abs? Also when did she join the soccer team? If there was a contest on bed rotting, she and Minji would tie for first place. Also when did Minji get taller? Before she left, they were almost the same height but now she's almost as tall as Yunjin and damn Yunjin looks tall.

"Nice" Haerin says as she tries to hide her expression. Hyein continues to look through her phone and picks pictures to show Haerin. It was mostly all of Minji and her friends. One picture that stood out the most to her though was of Hanni and Minji. She guesses that it was Yunjin that took the photo as you can see her hand put up a peace sign above the two from behind the camera. The two girls in the photo were wearing casual clothes, Minji was wearing a crop top with baggy jeans and her signature cap and Hanni was wearing a letterman jacket with a skirt. What caught Haerin's attention was the letterman jacket that Hanni was wearing, it clearly has "MINJI '' on the back of it. Haerin sucks in her bottom lips and gives Hyein a curt smile.

"Cute" Haerin says as she focuses her attention back onto the hallway, they're going to be late if they don't hurry up.

"I didn't know that Minji had an instagram" Haerin says as they near the student council room, she opens the door and sees that Taehyung, Jennie, Hyewon are already there. They greet them good morning and take their seats.

"She doesn't, it's Yunjin unnie and Hanni unnie's instagram" Hyein says as she scrolls through the girl's feed again. Hyein usually gets pictures from Minji but not like this, the shots that her friends have taken look more candid and in the moment. Seeing her sister like this was like a breath of fresh air. It made her miss her even more. She's been texting Yunjin and Hanni about their plans for winter break and it makes her even more excited to meet the girls. They really are good people, just as Minji has told her.
