Troubling night

We have another appointment at the doctors today and I can join this time. I can't wait to see the babies moving finally. They have been very active lately. Especially in the evening. I know it's annoying for Ellie but it's so cute when they move. I love to feel it. If we are lucky we can also get to know the gender today.

"God, are they having a party in there or what?" Ellie sighs as the babies have been going crazy for about 10 minutes already. My head is laying at her chest and my hands are resting on her bump. I feel every movement that they do.

"They are getting stronger. The kicks feel very strong."

"I can tell you, they are strong." Ellie says. They should probably calm down a bit but I want to see them move at the doctors.

"Do you sometimes have this strange moment where you realise that you are actually growing two humans inside you?" I ask because I think that's insane.

"Yeah, it does feel weird sometimes." Ellie says. I bet it's even more weird when they are inside your own body. I feel another strong kick against my hand.

"Ouch. Maybe they will at least be asleep tonight." Ellie says at that. I lift my head up and give her a kiss on her cheek.

"Maybe I can calm them down later. I read something about music." I say. I want to help her because I know how hard it is for her to sleep anyway and the kicking doesn't help with it.

We now have to go to the doctor's appointment. I'm always nervous and happy when we are here. I always fear that at some point something will be wrong. Especially with it being two babies there is always one that is a bit smaller than the other one. I want them to be both equally healthy. That's all I care about.

We go in there and then get called into the doctor's room. Ellie lays down on the lounger as always and I sit next to her while holding her hand. The doctor prepares the ultrasound already. I can't wait. I just want to see them finally.

"So, let's see how the little ones are." The doctor starts with the ultrasound. Just like always we don't see the screen at first. I just wait for her to say that they are fine. I keep looking between Ellie and the doctor.

"They are both completely fine. Don't worry. They look exactly like they should look. One still a bit smaller but that's normal. Should we check if we can see the gender today?" She asks.

"Yes." Ellie says. I'm so excited. I don't really care what gender they are but it's still pretty exciting to know.

"Then we will see if they let us know today." She says and checks the screen. I just wait while my heart is beating so fast. I squeeze Ellies hand and get a bit closer to her.

"So there is the first one. This one is a little boy." The doctor says. My heart skips a beat. Ellie looks at me with a smile. I kiss her forehead because I'm so happy. The doctor keeps checking for the second one.

"There is the second one. Another boy. You'll have two perfectly healthy boys." She says. I feel like I have to cry. This feels so perfect. We'll have two little boys.

"That explains why they are fighting in there the entire day." Ellie jokes. I smile at that and kiss her head again. The doctor now turns the screen at us. The babies on the screen are moving around the entire time. I really have a hard time with keeping myself in control so I don't cry now.

"Look at their little fingers." Ellie says at me. She is right. They have so cute fingers and toes. You can see everything. These our boys. I can't believe that I'm experiencing this.

"Do you have any tips on keeping them down in the evening? They are always so active when I want to sleep." Ellie asks the doctor.

"Music can help or just you two talking to them. They should get used to your voices anyway." The doctor says. I knew about the music and I was planning on trying to tonight.
