I went to starbucks and got me, Alex and Isaac something. I got my order and then went into school. I looked everywhere for Alex. I sat down next to him "You got me coffee!" He smiled "Yea caramel macchiato with extra caramel drizzle" I said "Hey can I ask you something?" He asked "Yea what's up?" I said "What happened yesterday between you and Isaac?" He asked "What do you mean?" I asked "He said you were acting weird when you left. You pecked his cheek and left without hugging him" He said "Jackie made this comment about us being a cute couple and he looked uncomfortable so I stepped back. I wanna give him his space so I left" I replied "Yea well he's freaking out" Alex said "I didn't know how to react. He kinda made it seem like he doesn't like me back and I don't want to be led on or anything like that so i'm distancing" I said "Don't do that he'll think he did something wrong" Alex responded "I don't wanna keep doing couple stuff if we aren't a couple" I said "Talk to him about it " Alex replied "I have to get to Isaac before class to give him his drink" I said then left I looked for Isaac and saw him by his locker. I walked over to him but before I could get to him Carlos stopped me "Aww you got me starbucks?" he asked "no why would I?" I said "Cause you miss me" he replied "There isn't much to miss" I said "Having someone who likes you is something to miss. Nobody likes you now or wants to put up with your shit" He said I looked at Isaac who watched the whole thing unfold and walked off and headed to my locker. I reached my locker and opened it up before I felt a tap "What?!" I said angrily "Nova. Are you okay? Did I do something wrong?" Isaac asked "Ima be honest with you because I haven't been and I don't wanna hold it in anymore. I acted like that yesterday cause after Jackie made that comment you kinda seemed offended. I didn't wanna make you uncomfortable so I distanced. I do like you but if you don't feel the same it's cool. I just don't wanna act like a couple when we're not" I said before handing him his drink "Nova... I-" He started responding "I really don't wanna talk about this now" I said before walking off He was about to chase after me when Jackie pulled me into the girls bathroom "What the hell?" I asked "The boys played a prank on me and I don't know what to do" She yelled She pulled off her hat and revealed orange streaks in her hair "Holy shit" I said "I can't go around like this!" She cried "After school buy some box dye i'll help you fix it" I said "Thank you so much!!" She hugged me
I headed to art class and sat down with Kiley and Grace. I watched as Cole walked Jackie to class. "Guess i'll see you after school new york?" Cole asked "Cole don't you have class" I asked "Where's my starbucks?" He asked I handed him the rest of mine "You don't want it?" He asked "I lost my appetite" I said He took it and sipped out of it "Ladies" he said before leaving "Oh my word. I can't believe it!" Grace screamed "What?" Jackie asked "Jackie. The god of all guys is flirting with you. And you Nova he just drank out of your cup!" She exclaimed "I still don't get it" Jackie said "He drinks my stuff all the time" I said "I mean there are plenty of good looking guys around. What makes him think he could have just anyone?" Jackie asked "Okay Jackie you can't define it okay? But you can't ignore it. It's like I told you. It's the Cole effect." She explained "That's ridiculous" Jackie replied "If he isn't so special why can't you keep your eyes off him?" Kiley asked "I can" She responded "Mhm" I said "Yea that's the Cole effect okay? It's okay don't be embarrassed. We've all had a Cole Walter crush" Grace said "Don't say we cause I haven't" I said "Um not all of us" Kiley said at the same time as I said my sentence "I don't have a crush" Jackie said
I got home with Jackie and went up to her room. I put my bag down and sweater "Ima go get something to drink want anything?" I asked Jackie "No i'm okay" She answered I went downstairs and got a vitamin water out of the fridge before turning and running into Isaac. I rolled my eyes "Can we talk" He asked "No! What the hell is wrong with you?! You put bleach in the soap and messed up Jackie's hair and now I have to fix it! These pranks are so stupid." I yelled "It was a joke" He replied "Do you know how hard it is to fit in a new place. Her family died and she had to move to a whole new town not just a new school. She's already going through enough! You're an asshole! You don't care about what happens to other people" I yelled I stormed upstairs and went into the room "are you okay?" Jackie asked "He watched Carlos say all those mean things about me and didn't say or do shit and he's supposed to be one of my best friends" I said looking down "I'm sorry" Jackie said "I think maybe I should stop liking him. It doesn't seem like he likes me back and ima get hurt." I said "Nova I think-" Jackie started replying "Let's just do your hair." I said She gave me the bottle and I put it on the orange spots and fixed her hair. I blended it in and applied it to everything.
