Today is thanksgiving and me and my family usually do a brunch since my mom tia and sisters had to work. Ismael is going to hang with some friends and me and Isa are going to the walter's. I invited them to mine but they all said they were busy. I spent all morning cooking and setting everything up. I finally had time to take a shower and get ready. After brunch I was gonna go help out at the school with Isa. I also made food for each of the animals so they wouldn't feel left out. I made a vegetarian dish for the chickens, pigs, cows, horses, chinchillas, and ducks. I made a meat and veggie with egg dish for the rest of my animals. I went outside with Isa and Isaac to give them their food before sitting down with the rest of my family. I should've went to give the dogs their food instead of Isaac cause they almost ran him over. They're still getting used to him so they don't listen to him all the time. I walked over to him and saw them trying to jump on him "Sit!" I said firmly They all sat down and Isaac sighed in relief. "Thanks baby" he smiled I laughed and he set the plates down "You ready to go get the plates set?" Isaac asked "Yea we're gonna have a full house" He looked at me confused "Cilla invited her boyfriend and friends and so did Lupe. Plus my tia invited some coworkers and I think my mom is bringing this guy she's been going on dates with." I said "That's why you made a lot of food?" He asked "Yea that and i'm nervous to meet my moms "boyfriend". This is the first guy since my dad and I want my mom to be happy but knowing she's with someone new kinda feels like she's replacing dad" I said "I know baby but she's not. She could never replace your dad. She just wants to be happy" he said kissing my head "Yea I know it just feels weird" I said "Come on let's go get the tables ready" he said holding his hand out "Okay" I said taking it
Everyone was sat down and we were just waiting for my moms boyfriend to come. I heard the doorbell ring and Isaac took my hand. I started playing with the rings on his hand as I heard her laughing. She came in with the guy and sat down. "This is John my..." She started "her boyfriend" He finished Isaac was the first to speak "nice to meet you" He said smiling "You are?" John asked "This is my boyfriend Isaac. I am Nova. Nice to meet you" I said Everyone else introduced themselves
"The food was amazing. Whoever made it must me a chef" John laughed "That would be Nova" my mom smiled "This is amazing. You must've spent a long time on it" He said "Yea. Thanks for the compliment" I said I smiled fakely. There was something about him that made my stomach turn. I couldn't shake it off. Isaac looked at me with a concerned look on his face "is everything okay mama" He whispered "Yea i'm fine" I lied "We'll talk about this later" He said seeing right through my lie
"Brunch was over and I went up to my room as Isaac and my family cleaned up. The food was demolished and not even crumbs were left over. I felt weird so I decided to take another shower. A few minutes later I heard Isaac come in the bathroom. He got into the shower a little after. He looked at me sadly "What's wrong my love" He asked "He sat in dads spot. Mom always keeps it open for dad. We kept my brothers seat open and she let him sit in dads chair." I said sadly "Baby..." He said holding my face "She's replacing him.." I started crying he held me as I continued to cry
After we finished showering Isaac got a call from Lee and we had to go to the Walter's. Isaac didn't really expect his dad to call them but Lee was looking forward to it and forced Isaac to be present. We walked into the office and I sat on the seat. Lee looked at Isaac in annoyance "That's what your wearing?" Lee asked "Dad doesn't care what we wear like.." Isaac scoffed Lee stood frozen for a second "Fine. I'm starting it" Lee said He joined the chat but i'm guessing his dad wasn't in it yet "I'm gonna go help Katherine" I said "are you sure?" Isaac asked "yea this seems like a you and Lee thing I don't wanna intrude" I said "Okay" Isaac said hesitantly I walked over and kissed him before walking out and going to Katherine "Do you need help with anything?" I asked "um not that I know. Did you bring a food?" She asked "Yea I brought my pumpkin cupcakes with cream cheese frosting" I said "Oh I can't wait for dessert. Is Isabella coming?" She asked "Yea. She's helping at the school" I replied "I thought you were too" She asked "I had something happen at home and Isaac thought it was best for me to be with him today" I said "He really does care about you" She smiled "Yea. I got lucky" I smiled back
Katherine asked me to check on Isaac and Lee to see if they were almost done. I walked upstairs and slightly opened the door. I looked in to see Lee scoff and push Isaac against the wall. "Bro what the..." Isaac started He bumped me as he walked out the room. I looked at him with worry "What happened?" I asked "I'm sorry you got caught in the middle of it" He said "Dad never showed and I hung up the call. He would've stared at that screen all day waiting. I didn't want him ruining the rest of his day" he sighed I walked over and hugged him We all sat at the table and waited till Jackie came. I watched as Lee frowned the whole time. I'll talk to him later. Isa looked at me with a confused look. I watched as Jackie jumped into her uncles arms and remembered how I used to jump into my dads arms when he would come home from his long trips. I watched as George got Lee to get up and do something and smiled to myself. I was sat in between Isaac and Erin. As much as I didn't like her she seemed nice today and congratulated me on my win at court. I watched as the table filled up "I thought before we dive in, why don't we go around the table and share what we're thankful for this year?" George said
It was Lees turn and he looked around "I don't feel like it" Lee said The whole table went quiet but Isaac cut in "Well i'm grateful um, that the ladies love me got my charm and my good looks" He said smiling at me as everyone laughed I kicked him underneath the table as he laughed in pain "No seriously i'm grateful for the one amazing person I have in my life who has got me through a lot. She shows me love that I didn't even know existed" He said staring at me "I honestly don't know what id do without you Nova" He said kissing my hand "and we're both grateful to be apart of this family right lee?" He said "And we love having you in it" Katherine replied as Isaac nodded "Nova your next" George said "I'm grateful to have people like you guys by my side. Without you I don't think I would've gotten through the trial. I found a family after losing some of mine and you guys were always welcoming with open arms. I'm also grateful to have someone like Isaac by my side. I know a lot of people say we're too young to love someone but I truly think that's stupid cause what Isaac has taught me" I said looking at him "We love having you around and who knows maybe one day you'll be a walter too" Katherine said "One day far from now" George added Erin and Haley went next and then we ate cause Haley was leaving and we didn't want the food to get cold
"Oh like stonehenge?" Isaac asked "Exactly. It only happens twice a year. When the sun aligns..." Richard started Isa gave me a signal to leave the table with her. "I'll be right back babe" I whispered I walked to the bathroom with Isa "What's wrong with Lee?" She said "They were supposed to have a meeting with their dad and he didn't show. Isaac turned the computer off cause Lee would've waited all day so he's been in a bad mood since" I replied "How do I fix it? He hasn't even been talking to me and I know i'm not his girlfriend yet but he usually tells me when he's upset" She frowned "I know but just give him time. Remember how sad I used to get when my dad couldn't make it to the video chats. I understand where he's coming from" I said "Okay let's go back" She relied we went back and sat down "Is everything okay?" Isaac asked Before I could say anything Lee spoke "Too bad she's not moving back" He said "Jeez Lee. Don't be a jackass" Cole said "Lee I don't think it's Jackie that your mad at right? She's not going anywhere so let's..." George asked "Actually I might be." Jackie said I choked over my drink and coughed "en serio?" Richard asked "te vas a mudar?" Isaac asked "Cuando?" I asked The rest of the night was arguments and Richard was gonna fight for custody. I was sad cause she was my best friend and she was leaving.
