"What do you mean you're done?" Ingrid leered down at the Commander in disbelief.
Even Anderson was staring in confusion, but his subordinate looked more dead than days prior. He had suspicions as to why, but the emotionless gaze on his face eluded him.
"Is this about... Vapaus?" Anderson inquired.
The Commander's blank glare shifted to him. "Nah."
"Wait, that facade that Syuen's running? Wait... she stole it from you, didn't she?!" Ingrid connected the dots, watching as the Commander brushed his hand through his hair and sigh.
"Yeah. And I'm leaving that charade to her. She's out of it, and her entire stock is going to plummet the more she involves herself with the surface. I'm on hiatus until she crashes... and burns."
"You want to halt all positive progression we've had over this?" Ingrid crossed her arms.
"Shouldn't be long. Give or take a month. PTO should last about half that, huh." The Commander glanced at Anderson, making Ingrid follow.
Anderson rolled his eyes, "You get two weeks of PTO. You're back after that."
"Are you serious-" "Yes. Has he gotten a single break since all of this?"
Ingrid groaned and turned to the Commander. She ruffled his hair and lightly nudged him towards the door. "Soon as you're off, back out there. We need more va-"
"I still have my research."
"Huh?" Anderson and Ingrid both looked confused.
"You think Vapaus just existed? It's not just a mineral. I won't disclose anything since the last time I did... the brat got her hands on the info. So I'll find means to disclose results with you soon."
The two had several questions, but as soon as he left the room, he was officially on vacation.

"So... we FINALLY get a break?! We're actually on vacation?!" Anis was clinging to the Commander, much to everyone's disdain.
After a call with Ether about keeping their research on lockdown, the Commander made it back to the Outpost and was ready to unwind.
"Yeah. We get two weeks. Paid."
"I assumed we'd get back at Syuen. Why not?" Guilty asked as she yanked Anis off and suspended her by her tank top in the air.
"We are. She has no clue where the hell Vapaus comes from, where it's located, how it works, and what research I've done on it." The Commander walked over to the fridge and pulled out two cans of soda.
Anis asked for one from her restraints and quickly caught the can tossed to her. Neon was quick to catch the next as Rapi and Guilty shook their heads.
"So, we let her crash and burn. After our break I'll spend a day with Ether to go over what we have to see if we can pinpoint the minerals needed to either create it or locate it again."
