Several weeks later, he had done it.
Wiping his brow of the sweat that threatened to fall, The Commander readjusted his grip on the wrench in his hand.
With careful precision and pressure, he twisted the wrench and locked the nuts and bolts in place, securing a large battery into a large machine.
Off to the side, were very unhelpful Nikke who stared at him instead of doing their respective tasks.
Anis was leaning against a wooden fence with a big grin on her face. Beside her, Neon covered her own grin, trying her hardest not to stare at the Commander for too long.
Guilty stopped mid transport, nearly dropping the cargo on her shoulders to tear her eyes into him.
Rapi's gaze was the sharpest. It was as if she didn't want to miss where a single drop of sweat would fall. Not a single inch of his visible body went untouched by her sight.
Nihilister was growing frustrated being the only one actually doing any work, but didn't even want to think about the reaction they'd give if she mentioned their ogling.
She stomped off while muttering curses about their infatuation for him.
The Commander clamped the wrench to the work belt on his waist and switched it for a torx screwdriver. As he began to mess with the security of the computer, he grew confused at the lack of noise.
Popping his head up from his focus, he turned and spotted everyone staring.
"Uh, everything good?!" He shouted from atop the machine.
"Perfect~." Anis sung.
"G-Great!"
Guilty gave a thumbs up, barely able to catch the container she dropped from doing so.
Rapi didn't reply and began walking over silently. Before she could get far, Anis and Neon jumped on her and pulled her away before she could make anymore "moves."
The Commander squinted his eyes. "What the hell's wrong with them?"
Shifty appeared in comms and scoffed. "You should really be more strict with them. You were supposed to have all the facilities stocked by now."
The Commander shrugged. "How's that on me? I'm working on extending the range of the camouflage!"
"Yeah, yeah, they're still under your command."
"Fine..." He turned to the Counters. "Yo! First one to finish their work gets seconds at dinner!" The Commander shouted.
Anis scrambled off of Rapi, pushing her and Neon aside as she picked up a container of food and water. Neon looked around for the nearest ammunition case, having to run back to the fence she was at to grab it.
Rapi rubbed her nape, not really excited of the idea, but still wanted to exceed the Commander's expectations in the case of negotiating a different reward.
