"The path is getting narrower." Hammering announced.
Liveryn appeared skeptical at the news. "It... wasn't like this on the map. Then again, I guess we can't expect all the details to be exact."
"It was an aerial view, so I guess that happens..." The Commander muttered.
"Is it just me, or are we totally screwed if any Raptures come at us from either side?" Liveryn questioned further.
"I'll watch the rear. Guilty, can you help?" Hammering offered. Guilty nodded, pacing back behind everyone with Hammering.
"Nihilister, we'll take the front. We'll probably do the least damage to the terrain." The Commander waved her forward.
He heard a soft scoff but still found her beside him not long after his order. He smirked before feeling something under his foot.
"Ah, watch your step! This place is flooded with crystals, Commander!" Elegg warned.
He would've been fine regardless of the greaves on his feet, but he nodded nonetheless. It was a warning for the far more vulnerable Nikkes without such protection.
"They dot almost every inch of the floor and walls. How will we traverse...?" Hammering mumbled.
Liveryn shuffled closely behind the Commander. "I don't even want to think about fighting in a place like this. That'd be a horrid way to go."
"I was thinking about that actually, and I believe it can be solved quite easily. All we got to do is remove our heads." Hammering replied with a thin smile.
Everyone stopped in their tracks and turned to her in disbelief and concern.
"What?" Liveryn wasn't amused.
"If we're between a rock and a hard place, removing our heads will solve the problem. The crystals would ravage our bodies and suck them dry, but so long as our heads stay intact, we'll be able to stay alive."
"Outta the question." The Commander didn't humor it further. "I'm a far simpler solution."
He activated Avalon and slammed his palms into the walls. With a sudden strobing effect, the blue glow around them began to seep into the armor's surface and contort the normal purple color to blue.
The entire crystalline pathway was drained of all color and began to tremble and fade until it was a simple dusty tunnel.
The Commander looked down at his armor and watched the sparks dance along the metal, unable to keep it all stored within him. The source of the crystals must be great— it powered his armor and then some.
"Shifty, what's ahead of us?" Rapi asked in his stead since he was busy admiring the power.
"The downtown area. This city used to be a moderate-sized trade hub. Other than that, there was nothing particularly noteworthy about it." She replied.
