The Commander slammed his foot into the wall of the medical bay and burst into the room. Yuni and Mihara jerked their heads over in shock at the crumbling concrete.

"Yuni." The Commander called stoically.

"Commander? Is that you? How did you get here? Are you... here to kill Syuen too?" She asked with hope.

The Commander leered down at her silently.

"You suffered a lot because of her too. Well, she's right here. I've made it so that she can't see or move. We can kill her together!" Yuni rambled with glee.

The Commander continued to walk over in silence. He gazed down at Syuen's bloody figure, seeing her heaving and grasping at her face in disbelief and pain.

Stopping in front of Yuni, it didn't take long for her to realize he wasn't there for her.

The Commander suddenly planted his pistol against Yuni's chest and fired.

Yuni staggered into Mihara, who gasped seeing the hole in her partner's chest. "Commander! How could you—"

"You... you've cleared my head. I feel so light." Yuni held her head in ecstasy. "So this is what Vapaus feels like!"

"Yeah. I've given you what I couldn't before." The Commander spoke. "I failed you and Mihara before. I wasn't strong enough to achieve my goals. But that's different now."

"You... you remembered...!" Yuni's eyes widened as she stumbled into him. She held him tightly in a deep hug, but he didn't reciprocate.

"I did. But you lost faith... You crossed the line, Yuni." The Commander looked down at Syuen and saw a pleading look of horror.

"B-But... she crossed it first! Why does she get to do whatever she wants and treat us like crap?! We do everything she asks and we get called rust buckets! It's never enough for her! She killed Mihara!" Yuni screamed.

"She did. The Mihara you knew is gone. But if you go any further you'd be killing her too." The Commander replied.

"What...? This... This imposter is not Mihara! I don't know her!" Yuni spat.

"If you really loved Mihara, you'd cherish what's left of her and cultivate what's there. Would you really throw everything away like Syuen did?" The Commander asked.

"But... but..." Yuni shoved herself off of him and glared at Syuen.

"Yuni. You kill her, and the Ark kills you. You'll never see Mihara again. You'd lose everything for nothing. Stop. Now." The Commander ordered.

"But... why?! Why would you use Vapaus if you didn't want her dead?!"

"I used it because you wanted me to. It's here that decides whether you deserve what I've given you." The Commander stepped back and crouched down to Syuen.

He stared down at her battered state and frowned. He never wanted this for her. He couldn't be everywhere at once, help everyone at once. He was failing again.

"I'm sorry." He whispered, unsure if she could even hear him. He lifted her in his arms and turned to Yuni.

"You kill her, and I'll kill you. It's as simple as that. You've got to come to terms and roll with the punches. Enjoy what you have Yuni— it's all we can do."

"You don't know how hard it is! You got Rapi back! I lost everything the day I lost her—"

"I lost Marian, but I took her back regardless. Mihara is still here for you to get everything back. Make a choice." The Commander watched Yuni ball her fists and tremble with rage.
