Andersen wasn't sure whether to smile or frown after the incident topside. He held a glass of whiskey, swirling it around as The Commander stood in front of his desk.
The expression on Andersen's face made the Commander rub his nape.
"If it helps any, I genuinely didn't think she'd go through with it."
"We still can't believe it ourselves. If not for you, humanity would cease to exist. The Ark has never seen events like these since its very creation. You shake this place to its very core, time after time." Andersen glanced at the bottle next to him.
He took a short sip of his glass and set it down. He picked up the bottle and poured a small serving into another glass across from him.
With a smile, he slid it to the Commander.
The Commander was more than willingly to take a shot, but Shifty entered the room as he grabbed the glass.
The two turned to the Operator, who only gave the two leers of disapproval seeing them drinking on the job. That was until she paced over and pointed to the bottle.
"Me next." She said with a sigh.
The Commander took his shot with no reaction and handed the glass to Shifty. Andersen poured her a shot too and sat up in his chair.
"Syuen wasn't punished by Enikk." Andersen began.
"I'm not surprised. Morale is at an all time high..." The Commander replied in annoyance. "We've got bigger fish to fry. I've got intelligence that needs to be surveyed. Personally."
Anderson poured himself another shot and nodded for him to continue as Shifty finished her own.
"I'm gonna go on an extended mission to the institute that created Vapaus. The Pilgrims gave me an inkling of a way to manufacture it, if my theory proves correct." He exclaimed.
"And that is?"
"You said our blood is rare." The Commander looked down at his hands. "I'm beginning to understand why that might be."
Andersen hummed. "I see why you've come to me. I'll send the Outpost more supplies."
"Thanks. Can always count on you." The Commander slyly replied, setting down his glass as Shifty finished another shot.
Andersen rolled his eyes as he began to leave, with Shifty tagging behind. His smile began to fade.
The Commander was getting closer to the answers he sought. He wasn't sure if that was a good thing anymore...

The Commander yawned as he left Andersen's headquarters alongside Shifty. Shifty was staring at him blankly as she thought about what she had been wanting to say.
"Hey—"
Before she could, she suddenly saw him grabbed by the neck with a submachine gun to the back of his head.
