She put her hands over her face in hopes to protect her eyes, mouth, nose, and dignity. Pearl felt almost sick to her stomach from the smell, which she didn't hesitate to complain about, "It smells like death in here."
"It might be 'cause of him." Kai had already turned around to take in the newest room and all its horrifying glory. There was a man in barely any clothes once more laying in a bed with at least two dozen IVs hooked up to him. This poor man looked lifeless, clearly a drug addict, but his heart was still beating. Over the speakers, they heard Pastor Charles, the sociopath, "Behold the whirlwind of the Lord. It shall fall with pain upon the head of the wicked."
"Shut the fuck up, prick!" Pearl exclaimed with frustration as she ran her hands though her hair. Kai had actually walked over to the lifeless appearing man while Pearl was still over by the first actual deceased person. Kai informed, "I think he's alive."
"God, I hope he's not." Kai looked back at Pearl with concern, unaware of why she was wishing someone dead, but Pearl saw nothing wrong with what she said. "What? He looks like shit."
All of a sudden, the man laying in the bed, more forced to be there by his weak stature, had jolted awake, his eyes blood shot. Weakly, he spoke, "No more...he's corrupted me by the drugs of my choice; ecstasy, cocaine, opioids. My body is a bag of mush. I'm dying from the inside out."
"You want me to put you out of your misery?" Pearl offered as she subtly lifted one of her daggers. It was hidden in a holster on her thigh underneath her dress, but Kai was more concerned about her willingness to kill this suffering man. He grabbed her wrist and pulled her hand down as he scolded, "You're not killing him."
