𝐴𝐹𝑇𝐸𝑅 𝐴 𝐵𝑈𝑆𝑌 𝐷𝐴𝑌'𝑆 work of killing people for a living, Pearl wanted to come home to her loving husband and feel at peace. As the night shifted on, Pearl had gotten ready for bed, putting on her shorts and one of Kai's shirts.
In she and Kai's room, she found her husband laying on his back in their bed, no shirt, and his hair half up. He had a sort of empty expression as she climbed into bed with him, laying her head on his chest and hugging his waist. Kai put his arm around his wife as he listened to her complain, "I hate work sometimes. This girl wanted me to kill her husband -- made me think of you."
"Are you implying you want to kill me?" Kai wondered, desperately hoping this was not the case. She laughed at his assumption. "No, Angel Eyes! I meant that I could never even imagine making you upset. Not on purpose anyway. If you marry someone, you shouldn't want to kill them. I want to kill pretty much everybody, but not you. I love you more than anything."
Kai squeezed her arm slightly as a response. The two of them rarely say 'I love you.' They want their own special saying; 'I adore you'. Those three words are only for the most desperate of occasions. However, Pearl wanted a genuine response. She sat up quickly and wacked her husband's chest. "Say it back, asshole."
"I love you, Dollface." Kai responded as he moved his hand under her shirt to rest on her waist. Pearl scrunched her nose and moved his hand away. "Well, now it feels forced."
"What do you want from me?" Kai questioned as he say up, leaning his back against the headboard.
"Kai, we never say 'I love you', we say 'I adore you', and I do. But you didn't do that stupid little smile whenever I tell you I love you. You get all nervous and your cheeks go red and you can barely look me in the eye. It's adorable and I miss it. There's clearly something wrong."
"Nothing's wrong, Pearl. Can we just go to bed?" Pearl sighed and rolled her eyes. She moved closer to Kai and leaned one hand over his legs. She held up her other hand with her pinky out. Kai sighed, not wanting to do this, but she persisted, "Kai, talk to me."
