𝐴 𝐶𝐼𝑇𝑌 𝐶𝑂𝑈𝑁𝐶𝐼𝐿 𝐷𝐸𝐵𝐴𝑇𝐸 was next to useless. Everyone in Brookfield Heights, Michigan was on Kai's side, supported him, and wanted to vote for him. This was basically a giant rally for him to prove that he was going to win.
Kai is charming, charismatic, unique, and a man who constantly reassured the Trump supporters and tricks the Hillary supporters. It seemed the people in the middle such as Ally were the only ones not being fooled. It helped him too that the media loves him. Not only is he all those positive attributes, but he has a beautiful wife known in the community for running a charity, and those who know her for her real job, they're thankful to her.
Kai and Pearl consistently seemed to look perfect in the media, thanks to Beverly, but even with other reporters, they were on top of their game. Pearl wore a flattering deep blue dress that matched her husband's hair while they were in the town hall meeting room, waiting for the debate to begin. She continuously fixed Kai's suit, her nervousness being constant. Kai let out a small laugh as he reassured, "Dollface, I think I'm okay."
"I know, I'm sorry. I'm just...I want you to do well." Pearl admitted, resting her hands on his chest. Kai held her hands and placed light kisses on them, sending her a sweet smile as he teased, "I'm gonna do great. What, you don't have faith in me?"
"I do! I really do, I just...I just have a bad feeling." Pearl's 'bad feeling' was more than a simple feeling. She knew what was going to happen at this meeting. She planned it.
"What do you mean?"
"I don't know. It's just that you've been very successful. I think we both know that life likes to fuck us, so when things are going too well, something bad'll happen." Pearl pointed out. She did still care about Kai, even if she was planning to sabotage him at his meeting, but that was for her amusement. Pearl hoped Kai could be somewhat prepared.
