"𝐴 𝐵𝑅𝑈𝑇𝐴𝐿 𝐴𝑇𝑇𝐴𝐶𝐾 𝐶𝐴𝑈𝐺𝐻𝑇 on cell phone video. What started as a grotesque example of crime in a small Michigan town has taken an unexpected and political turn. It was a week ago today that a local man, Kai Anderson, was badly beaten by migrant workers outside of a local hardware store. The attack was filmed by Meadow and Harrison Wilton and given exclusively to us here at Channel 7."

Kai had purposefully gotten himself beaten up by a group of immigrants, who coincidentally were working in the country illegally. While Kai was sitting on the coffee table, Pearl was watching the news story about what had happened. Their plan was to get them sent back to the country they were from to make a point and help Kai with his up and coming running for city council.

Pearl was standing behind Kai, putting his hair up in a bun while he was already dressed in a suit, her watching his interview on the news, which she hadn't seen yet. "I'm disgusted and outraged. When President Trump called them criminals and rapists, he was viciously attacked by the PC police. I grew up in this town, and I remember when our communities were safe, but they're not anymore. Look at my face. Look at my face, Michigan! I'm done complaining. Which is why I'm here at City Hall picking up my paperwork so I can officially run for the seat on the city council that was made vacant...by the tragic murder of Councilman Chang. Just vote Kai Anderson. Vote for the man who can take your fear away."

Since Kai's interview was over and really didn't care about the rest of what was going on in their town, Pearl turned off the television. Kai's hair too was up now and he was ready to leave. He turned around on the coffee table and put his hands on her waist, pulling Pearl closer to him. Kai smiled up at his wife as Pearl put her hands on his shoulders, expressing, "Councilman Kai Anderson. I like it. I also like when you look like this."

"Like I got the shit beaten out of me?" Kai did still have a bruise near his eye, a cut on his lip, and the tape from where he had gotten stitches. Pearl always loved when he looked as though he had been through a battle. She nodded her head. "It makes you look tougher than you actually are."

"You think I'm not tough, Dollface?" Kai challenged with a tease as he got to his feet, towering over the girl with his height. He was jokingly trying to intimidate her, but nothing got to Pearl. Pearl's greatest fear is facing her mother once more, but she died years ago. Pearl was safe.

"You couldn't even beat me in a fight." Pearl pointed out, fixing his tie since it was a little off to the side.

"No one can, Pearl." Kai spoke lowly as he sat down on the couch. He grabbed Pearl's waist again and pulled her towards him, but this time, Pearl hand landed on top of him, straddling Kai. He kept his hands on her waist while she rested her hands on his shoulders. Pearl smiled once their eyes met, only warming Kai's heart.

"You know, sometimes I imagine what it would be like if we were like all those other city council people. That white picket fence, giant house, with a fountain or some shit in the backyard. Maybe we'd have like a dog or something..." Kai began, picturing an ideal life that he didn't even want. Pearl could see where he was going with this, so she finished his thought, "Or kids..."

"Pearl, you know how much I want a kid with you, but we can't...you can't."

"I just want a family." Pearl spoke softly. Kai kissed the corner of her lips before he embraced her in a hug. Kai rubbed her back as she let out a breath. Kai and Pearl have both wanted kids for some time now. They've been married three years, they're the only people in the entire universe that they could possibly ever love -- no one could ever be as psychotic.

The real issue was Pearl's job. They knew that she being a professional assassin would be a horrible environment for a child to grow up. They wouldn't want their kid becoming a killer like its mother. It was Pearl that was insistent on not having kids because she wasn't willing to give up her job. Kai continues to bring it up, but he's aware that Pearl too wants to take that next step. They just can't.

"Dollface, I gotta go." Pearl moved off of Kai, but sat down on the couch. Kai got up as he grabbed her hand. He placed a small kiss upon it as she wished, "Good luck campaigning."

"I'll come right back after I'm done and you can tell me all about your art buildings."

"Art deco architecture." Pearl laughed, correcting his phrasing. Pearl has always had a passion for architecture, especially art deco. She modelled her entire orphanage after in that style since she truthfully couldn't stand anything else -- not baroque, not modern, not Victorian, not neoclassical. It was the one thing she loved just as much as Kai.
