𝐾𝐴𝐼'𝑆 𝐿𝐸𝐺 𝑊𝐴𝑆 𝐵𝑂𝑈𝑁𝐶𝐼𝑁𝐺 up and down with nervousness, knowing that this aspect of his movement solely relied on him and his charisma. Kai wanted to spread false fear within the community by targeting certain groups. He knew there was nothing violent to come, but this was part of his takeover.
Pearl held his hand that was resting on his knee, finally getting his leg to stop shaking so anxiously. Kai let out a breath, but his nervousness still remained. Kai is an incredibly outgoing person that has a talent for public speaking, but this meant so much to him -- this movement was everything.
The council was currently dealing with a different case, so in the viewers seats, Pearl leaned close to Kai and whispered as to not disturb the case, "Angel Eyes, you're gonna do great. You know what you're talking about and you're passionate. Even if this goes badly, you're not going to give up. You're meant to help people and that's what you're doing. Just relax a little."
Kai lifted her hand to his lips to place a small kiss as a thank you. He too endeared, "I adore you.
"I adore you too." Pearl smiled at him, trying to soothe his heart and make him feel comfortable in the council so that he would be able to succeed here for the movement. Although, he didn't have much time to prepare since his case was called up, "
"We will now take statements from the public on 73-52, approving the extended overtime for sheriff's deputies to stand guard at the Jewish Community Centre on Wildcliff Lane. First, and only, on the list to speak is Kai Anderson from 4318 Commodore Court." Kai, with some queue cards in hand so he wouldn't choke while he was speaking, walked to the stand.
Kai cleared his throat and began, "My fellow Americans, what do humans love the most? To what do we give our highest value? Is it family? Friends? Our homes? Notoriety? No. Above all, humans love fear. The fear that over time we have honed and polished and built up, brick by brick, until it stands before us every day as tall as the Trump Tower. How do I know we love fear more than our children? Because we are willing to ruin their lives in service of some irrational fear of losing them. 'No, Billy, you can't walk to school today. What if someone kidnaps you?' 'Clara-Belle, don't listen to rap music. You might get bad ideas about yourself.' Every day we are choosing fear over freedom. Freedom of movement, freedom of congregation, freedom of thought-"
"I'm sorry, I'm not seeing what this has to do with the motion." One of the councilmen laughed, finding this utterly ridiculous and assuming that no one would buy into this. He underestimated Kai's charisma. "Because you don't see anything. None of you do. Fear is currency. It has value. We don't need more cops, we need less. We don't need to protect the Jewish Community Centre, we need to let them blow it up!"
"Order." The councilman ordered as he hit the gavel. Kai was becoming a little too passionate, to the point where he was being unprofessional. Pearl loved his passion for orderly destruction, it was inspiring.
"I'm trying to help you, don't you see? They want to be scared. They yearn to be so scared that they don't have to think anymore, that they don't have to want anything anymore. Fear will release them from their desires and their ambitions and their bullshit needs! And then they will come running to us like children in a feverish nightmare. And the chosen few who are not afraid of the seas and the heights and the beasts of the world will return at the head of the evolutionary table to shepherd the weak into the chosen promised land of truth and freedom!"
"Okay. Let me get this straight. You want us to just let chaos reign in our community so that everyone gets so scared that they'll, what, give us some sort of unlimited power to protect them?" The city councilman tried to piece together, but it has always been incredibly difficult to understand Kai's mind if one is not as sociopathic.
"Haven't you been watching what's going on in the world? I'm just telling you what's happening, man."
"Mhm. Young man, I appreciate that a lot of you 4chan guys feel empowered to join the rest of us in civil society not that Papa Bear Trump is telling you it's okay and maybe your girlfriend here finally got you to do something productive-" The council motioned to Pearl, but he was quickly cut off when Kai clarified, "That's my wife."
"Apologies. But I need to send you a message. This is a blip, a temporary intifada. I know it feels good to have your worst instincts validated, but don't be fooled. Use this opportunity, not that you're out of your parents basement, to meet a few people that aren't like you. Maybe your wife can help you find the path to normality; being so, Hillary. You are afraid. We are not. And with no one else to speak, let's vote on 73-52. Those in favour?" The councilman asked, every single member of the council raising their hand. Kai's jaw clenched as the gavel hit the desk. "Opposed. Motion passes. On to the next order of business."
Kai fought the urge to attack these men verbally, but with the right motivation, it could have been physically. Kai did turn around and begin to make his way out. He held his hand for Pearl to take, the both of them now leaving the room. However, Kai muttered something under his breath just loud enough for the councilman's attention to be caught. "What was that?"
Kai turned around slowly and looked at the councilman with his dead eyes. "I said there is nothing more dangerous in this world than a humiliated man."
