"Masachika-san? Why are you here? Aren't you supposed to be beside Shinungawaza-san?" Giyuu asked as he saw the other alpha enter the room. Kanae had briefly informed him that Sanemi was in heat and that she was going to check up on him.
"I should be, but I decided against it. Kocho-san would do a better job at taking care of him since she knows how to handle this stuff." Masachika nervously replied, his hand going to the back of his neck and lightly pinching himself. It was a nervous habit that Tanjiro and he both shared.
"Oh? Forgive me for prying, but hasn't Sanemi spent any of his heats with you? As a pack?" Giyuu asked, for both Sanemi and Maschika seemed too intimate to be friends, the next best thing was a pack. But seeing how Masachika stiffened, Giyuu started debating on his options.
"I-I haven't spent a heat with him before." Masachika spoke and Giyuu nodded.
"Forgive me, it was immature on my part to ask that of you." Giyuu said and Masachika looked up. The alpha smiled slightly and sat down opposite to Giyuu. They stayed there in silence till Kanae barged in.
"I've put him to sleep, thankfully he was in his room when his heat hit. The next wave would be painful, he'd need an alpha around him, given that he has marechi blood." Kanae said and Giyuu gave her a quizzical look.
"What does Shinungawaza-san's blood have to do with his heat?" He asked, he hated the fact that he sounded like an immature teenager. Kanae sighed and answered.
"Sanemi's mariachi blood makes his scent more intense. That's how he pulled that scent manipulation during the battle. The side effect is that his heats become more potent and painful. He'll slip into instincts every now and then but will still have his consciousness." Kanae spoke.
"So Shinungawaza-san needs an alpha? For intercourse?" Giyuu sheepishly asked and Kanae blushed.
"N-No, he'd need an alpha's presence that would calm his heat down." Kanae spoke and the attention suddenly shifted to Masachika. The alpha sputtered at the sudden change.
"Wh-What? You don't want me to—?" The question remained unfinished as Masachika swallowed thickly.
"I-I think that Tomioka-san would be better." Masachika sheepishly said, Giyuu was surprised but he calmly asked.
"What makes you think that? You and him have been friends for a long time." Giyuu stated and watched as Masachika blushed seven shades of red.
"I-I... you're a prime alpha, you'd have more control over your instincts than me. Plus, he'd recognise you." Masachika defended and Giyuu curled an eyebrow.
"Recognise me?" He questioned and Masachika fumbled over his words once more.
"You gave him that pendant didn't you? It's a comforting thing for Sanemi, and he gave you a token as well, didn't he?" Masachika asked and Giyuu nodded.
The prime alpha lifted his sleeve to show a bracelet around his wrist. The same one that Sanemi gave him when he went on his excursion. Masachika's eyes widened.
"See, that means that he's given you a token. When you approach him he'll recognise the token he gave you. He'll be more comfortable with you. He needs an Alpha, who better than an Alpha prime?" Masachika asked and Giyuu nodded. There was a good enough reason for the alpha's answer. And if Giyuu honestly thought about it, he was comfortable with the arrangement.
