I'M NOT DEAD!!!

Sanemi groaned in pain, stifling the noise the best he could with his hand as Shinobu applied healing cream onto his multiple bruises. He wished to heaven and back that Giyuu would be back soon. He hadn't seen the alpha since he had set foot on the ship. The reason being that to see Sanemi he should be properly sanitised first. Sanemi willed himself not to cry. His inner omega was whining and crying for their mate, but he understood why Giyuu couldn't come to him. He let out a hiss as Shinobu applied more of the cream onto his wounds. Kanae was situated next to him, gently stroking his head like an older sister would, trying to alleviate the pain a little.

"How long is it going to take to get back home?" Sanemi asked, his voice tight with pain.

"A few days till the nearest harbour and then a week on walk." Shinobu answered.

"You all went that far from home?"

Shinobu looked at Sanemi with a stern expression.

"Of course we did! Losing you is like losing part of the family, I'm pretty sure half of the tribe would have joined us if they had the power to." Shinobu answered.

Sanemi felt his heart flutter. To know he was cared for, loved, cherished. He still remembered the days when he had to be alert at all times. The days when anything was worth fighting for, and having a roof above his head nearly no chance of. He remembered the days his father let him starve on the peaks of the mountains after giving him a session of whiplashes. The days when feeling protected was like asking a fish to walk. Tears burned at the back of his eyes as the most recent memories resurfaced. Gyoko's hands wandering his body as his father brought his whip down on his bare back. The wounds on his hips, thighs, and back stung with newfound vigour and Sanemi grit his teeth to bear through it.

"Sanemi? Are you alright?" No, Sanemi wanted to answer. No, he was not alright. He had been taken away from his safespace for two months, forced to eat raw food, whipped and assaulted. No he was not okay. His mate seemed angry at him even though he knew he wasn't. Sanemi wanted to yell this all out but he found himself saying something else entirely.

"Yeah, I'm alright. My bruises stung a bit, that's all." He replied. Funny how lying came to him so easily. How he could stare right into a person's eyes and lie to them outright. He wasn't a dignified tribe prince, he was nowhere close. He was barbaric, tainted, and scarred. How he had gotten into the Aqua tribe he had no idea. Giyuu had kept telling him that he loved him for who he was. But was he a good person? Was he enough for Giyuu? Hell, did he even deserve Giyuu? He had lied to him and kept a secret as big as Jupiter from his mate. How could he be more undeserving? Having his father reveal something he wasn't even ready to come to terms with had been the last straw. He would have kneeled down and begged for death if he hadn't seen the rage in Giyuu's eyes. He hoped with all his heart that the rage he saw wouldn't be directed at him later on. The door creaked and Shinobu and Kanae exited the room. Confused, Sanemi turned to see what it was all about. When he did so he met dark cobalt blue eyes.

Those eyes had always reminded him of the calm ocean. They had always captivated him and soothed him. They never looked at him with pity, but always with understanding. Watching them light up with joy was always his favourite sight. But now those eyes that had looked at him with so much love, looked at him with no emotion at all. Sanemi could see past that, could see the storm brewing in the ocean eyes of his mate, storms fueled by rage.

"Giyuu?" Never before had Sanemi felt so small, sounded so small. His mate's eyes snapped up at him, rage filled irises boring into him. Slowly Giyuu pulled something out of his pocket and handed it to Sanemi. A small pouch. The omega wearily accepted the pouch and opened it. The aroma of freshly made ohagi filled the room and Sanemi took a deep breath. He slowly pulled out a piece and bit into it. Relishing the flavour of fresh, cooked food after two months of starvation had him seeing stars. He quickly finished the piece and pulled out another. He slowly handed it to Giyuu. The alpha stepped away.
