Salacia POV"YOU LOST OLIVER?!?!?!?!?!??" I screamed grabbing ahold of Kili's shirt and slamming his back against the wall. "D-didn't lose! M-more like misplaced!" Kili said panicked. "I SWEAR I WILL KILL ALL FOUR OF YOU IF WE DONT FIND HIM!!!!" I screamed furiously. "W-we understand that!" Dwalin said holding his hands up. I glared daggers at the bald dwarf. "Where. Is. Thorin." I deadpinned. "He's with Oin getting stitched." Dwalin said. "Stitched?" I asked. "Yeah, Oliver got him good in the back of the calf." Fili said. "Good. The bastard deserves it for yelling at him!" I growled and let go of Kili.
I stormed through town, I felt my body beginning to twitch and my anger heighten. As my eyes set on the building I knew Thorin was in my hair lit a blaze. Small screams erupted from the few people around me. "Of don't worry, the only one about to feel this level of wrath is that dwarf up there." I spat as I made my way into the building. I banged on the inn door with fury. "OPEN UP OIN." I yelled. Suddenly a shaky terrified dwarf opened the door. "He's in there please don't hurt me!" He said quickly getting out of my way. "Thorin!" I said angrily as the king showed himself. "Salacia...calm down...I can explain." He said holding his hands up to me. "Oh really? Then please explain why my apprentice ran off terrified into the forest and you couldn't find him?!" I yelled. "W-well..." He said completely at a loss of words. "Yah, that's what I thought. Now here's what's gonna happen." I said pushing him back to sit in a chair. " I'm going to heal your leg, you, Dwalin, Kili, and Fili will be coming with me and we are not going near that mountain until Oliver is found, do you understand me." I asked locking my eyes with him. "But Sal-" he started before I slapped a hand over his mouth. "No buts, you need me to handle that dragon. I need Oliver with me to ensure he is not dead somewhere else! Now this is your fault. You have to pay for it." I growled. He sighed in defeat, "aye, your right. Let's go find him." He said standing up, only for me to push him back down. "Sit your ass back down. I have to heal your leg, then we go." I said kneeling down to look at his wound.
Oliver PoV
I stepped carefully as I walked down the dark tunnel, granted for the fact that I couldn't see an inch in front of me. "Why is it so dark in here?" I whispered to myself as I focused in on my inner power and managed to conjure a ball of fire in my hand, giving me amazing light. I looked around me and saw scattered bones and blood clawed on the walls of the tunnel. My eyes widened in fear before I swallowed it and sprinted down the tunnel. A small ways down the tunnel a large pile of jewels and weapons caught my eye. I walked closer to inspect it. The gold though defiantly took fancy...one thing however caught my eye. I dug some gold out of the way to reveal marvelous axe. I lifted it into my hands. Though it wasn't heavy in my hands, I felt in my heart that it could do intense damage. "Maybe this is supposed to be my true first weapon..." I said to myself.
((Picture at the beginning of the chapter))
I smiled and looked once again to the ground and found a strap. I wrapped it across my chest and secured the weapon on my back before moving on. As I got closer to what I believed to be the end of the tunnel I began to heard low growling. "That...doesn't sound small." I whispered. I walked slowly and silently closer to the noise, it grew louder and louder. Suddenly I began to see light, immediately eliminating my fire. I hugged close to the wall and inched forward. I pulled my axe and held it tightly in my hands. I froze at the end of the wall, my back pressed against it tightly. I arched my neck and looked around the corner, not entire sure of what I was looking at. Through the dim light it looked like a massive pile of...well...fur. I flinched as it let out another low strained growl. 'Whatever that is...its hurt.' I thought. I gripped axe before taking a deep breath and securing it back onto my back. I moved from my place carefully walking around the large mass of white silver fur, hoping I wasn't heard, though my luck wasn't very strong. I froze a massive canine like head swung around to look at me. "Oh no..." I whispered as I stopped. It's teeth bared as its eyes locked into me. Before I could make a single move, my terror was doubled...or tripled I should say...as two more heads rose. "C-Cerberus" I whimpered. I had heard of them... three headed dogs, massive in size and ruthless in battle. It's massive Paw slammed onto the ground and pushed itself up, along with the others. "O-okay...h-hold on..." I said holding my hands up as my eyes settled on a large sword lodged into its back leg. As well as other brutal wounds making it bleed and growl in pain. "Please! I want to help you!" I said. I watched it push itself fully onto his feet, absolutely massive in size and height. All three heads, six eyes trained on me as its head neared towards me. "P-please! I promise!" I said as I pulled at the neck of my shirt, however before I could show what I wanted to it jumped. I screamed and dove under its large paw, barely dodging. "Please!" I yelled again as two of its heads whipped Around trying to bite me, and as I guess, rip me in two. I ducked down making them run straight into each other. I ran as fast as I could straight through the two disoriented heads and slide back to look at the beast. "HEY!" I yelled. All three heads locked eyes onto me. "I AM NOT TRYING TO HARM YOU! I WANT TO HEAL YOU!" I yelled angrily before I sprinted forward straight for the sword lodged in its leg. As soon as I gripped the handle I pulled it out throwing the sword away and planting my hands on the wound. I closed my eyes and focused every ounce of healing magic on its wound. It howled in pain for only a second before everything froze. I pulled my hands away from the stab wound. The blood was gone and the skin was intact. I breathed in relief. Suddenly the Cerberus walked around me, facing me fully. "I promise you I mean absolutely no harm. I just want to help." I said setting pulling my axe out and setting it on the ground. My eyes widened in confusion as the cerberus flopped onto its side, breathing heavily. I walked carefully towards it to inspect it. "Now...where are you hurt..." I whispered. Suddenly I heard a gross gushing sound, I snapped my head to the right and saw blood gushing from one of its heads ears, "oh no..." I said scared as I ran towards it ahead, another looking at me sharply. As I got closer I saw that this head had a massive crack down the back. "...internal brain damage." I said. I took a deep breath and rubbed my hands together. "I can do this, I can do this." I whispered. I placed my hands onto the gushing wounds and gagged slightly but held myself together. I quickly found my center and focused all my energy. I heard the cerberus cry out however I couldn't stop feeling the blood pumping out. 'I'm not strong enough...no...' I whispered. I pressed my hands harder and whispered a spell that seemed to come to my mind out of nowhere. No matter how many times I tried I couldn't heal the poor creature. I pulled my hands away and felt my eyes water. "I-I'm sorry..." I said softly as a tear streaked down my face. Suddenly one of the I injured heads nudged against my side. "Do not punish yourself." It said. I shrieked and jumped backed. "Y-you! Your talking!!!!!" I yelled pointing at it. "Why are you talking?!?!?!" I asked scared. "Oliver!" I jumped to my feet and backed away from a voice coming from the tunnel. "Do not be scared my boy. I am here to help you." The voice spoke again. Suddenly a short man with a beard and dirty looking brown clothing carrying a staff. "Who are you?!?" I asked. "My name is Radagast, I am here for her." He said pointing his staff towards the Cerberus. "H-her?" I asked. "I am here to comfort her into her passing, special creatures such as her doesn't deserve a painful passing." He said. "I thought no animal deserved a painful passing." I said. "No, you are right. That is why any normal animal we can save...do not feel bad for not being strong enough to save her." He said. "Who are you?" I asked again. "My name is Radagast...Radagast the brown. I care for the animals of middle earth." He said. My eyes widened, "you can save her then can't you?!" I asked desperately. "Though it breaks my heart...I cannot." He said. "Then...what do we do." I asked. "Well, she has honored you...the one who tried to save her life...her last words." He said. "Her last words? Is that why she talked to me?" I asked. Radagast nodded. "What, what am I supposed to do?" I asked. "Just listen, every animal has the power to give any being their dying words, however it is very rare they they see a human worthy. However when it does happen, it is not uncommon that it is children." He said. "Really? Why?" I asked. "Children are pure and true of heart. Animals, especially specialities like a Cerberus." Radagast said. "Now go, she can't hold on forever." He said. I nodded and turned around to look at the weakened beast. "I am sorry I couldn't save you." I said. "I am old, I did not have much time left as it is." She said. Her voice was strong and powerful, yet weakened and tired. "Is there anything I can do to help you pass?" I asked. "Promise me one thing." She said, all two of the heads looking at me, the injured one resting on the ground, eyes closed. "Yes? Anything." I said touching my hand onto her great paw. "Promise me you will care for my child. Her father has gone, and now I must leave as well. I cannot bear to leave him in a world he does not know, with no one to ensure him upbringing and care." She said. My eyes watered as she spoke. "He is young like you, he will be able to relate to you. All I ask...is you lead him in the right direction, not to evil." She said. "I swear on my life that I will care for your child. "Oliver, thank you. My heart can rest easy knowing he will be cared for, and protected." She whispered as her heads laid on the ground with the other. Their eyes shut, and their breathing slowed. I stroked her soft white paw. I held onto to until her breathing came to a complete stop. I sniffed and wiped my eyes. "What did she tell you?" Radagast spoke, making me jump since I had completely forgotten his presence. "You couldn't hear her?" I asked standing. "No, an animals blessing is to one person and one person only. Now, what did she say?" He asked. "S-she asked me to care for her child. She said she didn't want him to grown up...evil." I said. "Oh my goodness..." He said. "What?" I asked. "This has never happened." He said. "Well...alright but what did she mean by evil?" I asked. "Well my boy cerberus's are normally known...if ever to be tamed, they are trained to be ruthless and horrid, they are trained by orcs." He said. "However, it is clear as day that this one...was not raised by anyone. Normally a cerberus is very kind, very nurturing until they are taken and beaten to act otherwise. This is why they are always known to be feared." Radagast said. "So she wants me to ensure that her son grows up to be kind and nurturing, as he should be?" I asked. He nodded. "Well...where is this child anyways?" I asked looking around as I picked up my axe and secured it on my back. "Most likely hidden, though three headed and massive they are still canines, canines protect their young." He said. Before I could reply I heard a small yip. I turned around and noticed a small cave about my height. Another yip coming from inside. "Well, I think I found him." I said somewhat nervous. "Come my boy," he said leading the way. As we came close his staff glowed, lighting up the cave reviling another tunnel. "Should I go?" I asked. "Of course your should, he is waking up, alone and afraid. You must go and assure him you are his guardian." Radagast said. I swallowed the intense nervousness in my stomach, took off my axe giving it to Radagast and got down on my knees before crawling into the tunnel. "How many more of these do I have to go through?" I whispered. I smiled seeing the exit and saw crawled faster before rolling through. I sat up straight and shook the rubble and dirt out of my hair. I opened my eyes and looked forward in shock. A small cerberus pup...well...small is an understatement but he sure wasn't much taller than me. His fur was silvery white, eyes were a soft red color. He stared at me, did nothing, only stared. "Hey...I understand this may be weird...given you just woke up and have no idea what is going on." I said standing and walking closer. "Your mother asked me to care for you, and raise you, keep you safe." I said. His middle head never broke eye contact with me. "Trust me, I only want to take care of you, as your mother asked of me." I said balling my hands into fists out of fear. Suddenly before I could say or do anything he tackled me to the ground, yipping happily and licking my face. "Ahh!!!! Hahaha come on boy down!" I laughed loudly. He backed up, his tail wagging hard. I smiled and wiped the spit off my face. "Alright, let's get you out of here." I said gesturing towards the tunnel. He didn't even try to deny, trusted me and ran into the tunnel, me crawling after him. "Oh my! Aren't you a handsome one!" I heard Radagast say happily. I rolled out and saw him petting the Cerberus. "I don't understand why he was so open to immodestly trusting me." I said. "He had just woken up from birth, you are the only true one he knows to trust. As far as he's concerned you have been his friend since birth." Radagast said. I looked at the young pup, and grinned slightly knowing he now loyally trusted me. "What is his name?" Radagast asked pulling me from my thoughts. "Oh, well...I haven't thought of that." I said as he turned back to me jumping up and down happily in front of me. "Axel." I said petting two of the three heads then the third. "Interesting name, I like it." Radagast said. I smiled. "OLIVER!!!!!" I heard Salacias voice. "S-Salacia?" I asked before sprinting down the tunnel, Axel on my tail. "SALACIA!!!!" I yelled again as I reached the hole and looked up. "Oli- OLIVER GET AWAY FROM THAT THIING!!!!!" She screamed before jumping down and landing between Axel and I. Her hair lit in black flames and her eyes glowing blue with a ball of electricity in each of her hands.
