Damian
I had never seen anyone leave that fast before. I wondered if he was all right. No, wait. Why did I care?
I instead divert my attention to Gabriella who was the one who had pushed me to fall on the ground, but Chase caught me. She shrugged and drank a few sips of her drink before walking away to find her introverted friend who was mingling in the corner while scrolling through her phone.
My mind was still scrambled up from what just happened. I couldn't stop my heart from racing either. I had no idea what was happening with me.
"Dude?" Benjamin called yanking my arm. He dragged us both inside a closet.I looked around then back at him.
"Is this your funny way of coming out Benjamin?" I asked raising an eyebrow. He stared at me dumbfounded for a split second till it hit him."No. This was the only private place I could think of. I am straight as an arrow. However, you my friend were hit by an arrow. Cupid's arrow to be exact." Benjamin explained.
"What are you on about?" I asked.
"The guy who just left. What's going on between you two because I saw some major sparks." My friend said."Are you sure you're not gay?" I asked chuckling slightly.
"Shut up. Straight men can be sucker for romance." Benjamin said.
"Well, sorry to burst your bubble, but what you saw between Chase and I were not sparks. Let alone romance." I said."Oh come on Damian. Yes there were. You're just in denial." Benjamin said.
"The only thing I am is suffocating because of this claustrophobic closet." I said.
"Fine. We'll go out." Benjamin said.
"He finally admits." I teased looking away.Benjamin frowned.
"For the last time, I am not gay." He said opening the doors of the closet then he walked out. I followed him out while folding my arms across my chest as he closed the doors behind me. "Though, I would kill to see my gay friend fall in love." He said."I will never fall in love." I said frowning at him.
"Never say never." Benjamin said.I rolled my eyes having enough for one night.
"I will see you at school tomorrow Benjamin." I said turning my heels to walk away.
"Hope you have sweet dreams about Chase!" He hollered. I feel my cheeks heating up.I don't turn around and gave my friend a middle finger to which he laughed at. I smiled making my way to the door grateful that he was my friend. I preferred him over the fake friendships I have seen in my life.
As soon as I stepped out the house the cold night breeze blew over me. I flinched from the harsh wind and wished I had worn a hoodie that night. I sighed softly telling myself to suck it up till I got home. It wasn't that far anyway.
My mind drifts off to Chase. He was giving me a lot of mixed signals.
First, he punched me, but now he was catching me from falling face flat on the ground. I quickly conclude that maybe he was just being a good person and that he actually felt bad for hurting me.
Romance? It didn't exist. I saw the truth from my parents. People only get married to not die alone. There was no such thing as love.
