Chase

I sighed indignantly while stepping inside the main room being unsuccessful in finding that human. I had no idea where else to look now.

Just when I was about to throw in the towel I found those dark sapphire eyes looking at me in fear. I gritted my teeth and charged towards him but Oliver and Rachel quickly stepped in front of me stopping me from hurting that pathetic human.

"Chase, calm down. Please buddy." Oliver said.
"Don't tell me to fucking calm down." I hissed pushing past him and Rachel. Damian widened his eyes in shock then rose from the chair he was sitting from. He gulped walking backwards.
"Please don't hurt me." He pleaded.

"Unfortunately for you I am not Christ." I said then pounced at him, but my body was frozen in place. I flinched attempting to wiggle out the grip but it was useless.
"Calm down. If you kill the human then he'll have to rule hell forever." The first member of the council said.
"And we know you don't want that." The third member said. He was the one holding me with his telekinesis powers.

I was freed eventually. I narrowed my eyes at the human who gulped and looked anywhere else but at me.
"What's going on?" He asked turning to the council.

"Well, bluntly put, two days ago you were supposed to be dead from a heart attack and go to to heaven. However, you killed Brycen gaining the position of being the prince of hell. Now you're here and by the looks of it you might even be here forever." The third member explained.

Damian's face fell.
"I was supposed to be dead?" He whispered lowering his eyes looking to be in great shock.
"Wait, are you saying that there is no way we can make Damian not be our leader?" Rachel asked.

"We don't know how to transfer ownership from a human to a devil at the moment." The second member of the council said.
"But we are investigating." The first member added.

What great councils we had.
"So, in the meantime, what is going to happen?" Damian asked but flinched when all eyes turned to him. He actually took a step back from my intense gaze. He inhaled softly turning to the council. "I... have a life. I can't...be...I can't run hell. Or whatever it was that you said."

The council exchanged glances before turning to us.
"We are afraid that there is no other choice. Until we find a way to reverse ownership you'll have to take over hell." The first member said.
"What?" Oliver cried in disbelief while Damian looked faint. Rachel lowered her eyes and I inhaled sharply.
"And how long will it take you to find a way?" I asked.

"We are not sure." The third member replied.
"Does this mean that I am a devil?" Damian asked.

He flinched when I turned to him with a cold glare.
"You will never be a devil just like how you will never belong here. I'll find a way to remove you. I'll do whatever it takes." I hissed. Damian gulped. I narrowed my eyes at him then decided to leave before I accidentally killed him.

Damian

I was so relieved that he was leaving but I knew that the nightmare was far from over.
"You're not necessarily a devil. Your life will remain the same. Except you'll be needed to come to hell to do your duties too as the leader." The first member of the council replied.

That was a relief – to a certain extent.
"We assure you all that we'll find a way swiftly." The second member said. They then disappeared leaving a few black feathers behind that morphed into black ashes before fading away completely.

I swallowed hard and turned to the remaining devils.
"Is there like training or something?" I asked.
"I must be in a nightmare that isn't even fun." Rachel said through gritted teeth.
"Unfortunately, this is not that." Olive said.

I sighed.
"You guys both know that I am still here, right?" I asked.
"That's the problem." Oliver coldly said.

Rachel shook her head.
"Why did you murder our leader in cold blood you monster?" She asked walking towards me. I widened my eyes in shock then walked back.
"It was an accident. I swear." I said.

I flinched when my back hit the wall. Meanwhile, Rachel had me cornered.
"An accident?" Oliver asked walking towards me with a cold glare. "How could murder be fucking accident?"
"He wanted to kill me!" I exclaimed.

"He was trying to do his job! You were supposed to be dead that day and in heaven. Not rule hell." Rachel said.
"Why did you kill him actually? Are you working for the angels?" Oliver asked suspiciously.
"No, no. I am working for no angel. I swear." I replied.

Rachel and Oliver exchanged glances then sighed turning to me.
"We can't hate you for what you did because we have done far worse." Oliver said.
"But you did fucking disrespect us." Rachel added. She inhaled softly lowering her eyes. "All we can do now is put our differences aside and focus on balancing Earth." She said.
"We will see you after school for training and give you more information, but don't tell anyone about this." Oliver warned.

I gulped and nodded.
"I swear. I won't tell a soul." I said.
"Good. See you later Damian." Rachel said pushing me.

The wall behind me disappeared and I was now falling. I blinked once then I was back at school on the ground. Benjamin was hovering above me along with everyone else.

I sat up and winced from a pain at the back of my head.
"What happened?" I asked rubbing it.
"You just collapsed." Tracy replied.
"Are you okay?" Benjamin asked.
"I'm fine." I replied.

Gabriella rolled her eyes though I could tell that she was slightly relieved that I was okay. She pulled her friend away while my friend turned to me.
"Are you sure you're okay man?" He asked. I nodded quietly flashing him a smile.
"I am fine." I replied then a daunting realization dawned upon me. I was the prince of hell.
