Damian
The bell rang dismissing us. I languidly rose from my seat after packing away my stuff. As I walked out the classroom I quickly remembered that Felicity said that she was going to pick me up.
I flinched and took out my phone to text her, but she was already in front of me.
"Hey. Please hurry. I also have to stop by church to drop off freshly baked cake." She said.
"Felicity, I–""Don't you even start." She firmly said shaking her head. "Did you see yourself when you returned home earlier this morning? You looked horrible. I am not going to let you be like that again. Let's go home." I sighed softly. Basically, I lost that battle.
"Pardon me but Damian and I have an assignment." My heart froze. I swallowed hard then turned around to see Chase walking towards us wearing a black turtleneck and a dark blue denim jacket over it. He had on blue jeans and white sneakers. His silver-grey hair was tousled and he wore diamond studded earrings along with a few rings.
That damn devil still looked as hot as I first laid my eyes on him.
"Who are you?" My stepmother asked."Damian's classmate. Our teacher gave us an assignment that is due tomorrow. We were working on it for the past two days at home. That's why he probably looked like shit when he came back." Chase explained turning to me with a smile that I didn't find charming. Instead it was horrifying.
I gulped while Felicity wrinkled her eyebrows at him then turned to me.
"You were doing an assignment?" She asked.Chase gave me a look that ordered me that I had to play along. Gosh, how I feared to be alone with him.
"Yes. We were. I forgot to tell you Felicity not to pick me up after school. I'm really sorry. It slipped my mind." I said feigning a smile.Felicity slowly turned to Chase.
"All right, but he better be home before sundown or else there will be hell to pay." I flinched from her threat as it seemed like a painful reminder of my double life. Meanwhile, Chase smiled brighter and looked amused.
"Don't worry. I will make sure that Damian is home safely." He said turning to me. I gulped while I felt chills running down my spine."Okay. I probably should get going. See you at home Damian." Felicity said. I nodded with a warm smile. She walked away and I let out a breath that I didn't realize that I was holding in. That was the case till that devil spoke behind me.
"Shall we get going or do we have to lie again?" He asked sounding clearly annoyed.I inhaled softly then turned around to face him.
"Why are you here?" I asked.
"Did you bump your head in class or were you always stupid?" Chase asked making me widen my eyes in shock. "Like agreed you are to come to hell and do your duties as the leader. Has your thick human brain understood or should I repeat again?" He asked.I lowered my eyes as I was unable to think of a comeback.
"Why are you taking me and not Rachel or Oliver?" I asked avoiding his eyes but I did feel them piercing through my soul.
"They're busy." Chase replied.I furrowed my eyebrows turning to him.
"Busy?" I echoed. Something told me that he was lying.
"Yes. They're busy trying to get out of a room I locked them in. Now, come along." He said making my heart drop."Wait. You're lying, right?" I anxiously asked while he was about to snap his fingers but had stopped when I spoke.
"Do you think I'm lying?" Chase asked raising his left eyebrow. I stared at him in disbelief while he snapped his fingers. The hallway blurred out rapidly unlike how it happened with Rachel. Our surroundings were now black but I was dizzy and felt sick.
"Damn." I whispered under my breath as my head was still spinning."You'll get used to it. Though, I think you're going to have your own key." Chase said walking towards the right direction where the door similar to the one Rachel took me to earlier appeared.
"I only hope it doesn't make me feel like this." I whispered under my breath while rubbing my temples.I wasn't sure if the devil heard me or not, but he just opened the door and stepped in. I quietly followed him inside. The place was jaw dropping like the first time I was there.
There were grey couches, soft black carpets, and a dark grey chandelier above me. There was a round coffee table and a flat screen TV just a few steps away from it. The walls were black and looked really smooth.
I gave in to my temptation and ran a hand over one.
"Don't get too comfortable. This isn't where you're going for eternity the day I find a way to remove ownership from you." Chase said. I blinked then turned to him. He was in the kitchen making a sandwich. My stomach grumbled. I sighed softly turning to it. "I won't sit back and just accept you as our leader."I inhaled softly then walked inside the kitchen.
"You'll get used to it Chase. Plus the council did promise to fix this." I said sitting down on the light brown island. "Can I have some too?" I asked turning to the sandwich he was making.
"No." Chase replied. I widened my eyes in shock.
"Please?" I asked. He turned to me with his intense hazelnut eyes that always managed to make my tongue get twisted around my throat.
"Which part of 'no' did you not understand Damian?" He asked.
"I don't know. The n?" I asked sarcastically.Chase narrowed his eyes at me and judging from the reaction he wasn't used to someone who challenged him.
"How about we get into training since you're so funny?" He asked.
"Without eating?" I asked."You'll eat after. Take your hunger as motivation." Chase replied. I narrowed my eyes at him while he began to walk away. "Come on human." He said. I rolled my eyes and reluctantly followed him. ✓
