A/N: Hi. I hope you're all doing okay. I just wanted to tell you to read the following chapter with caution. It is a bit sinister and dark. Also, I wanted to let you all know that the song used in the chapter is "Careful what you wish for" by Jack Harris. It also inspired it. Let me not keep you any longer. I hope you enjoy :)

Chase

I dropped the human on the ground. He was shaking, scared out of his mind, and was unsure of where exactly he was.
"Who are you?" He asked.
"The devil." I replied sitting down on my chair and watched him look around my small office.

Only the boss had a bigger office than the rest of us, but I told myself for centuries that one day it will all be mine. The only thing that I had to do was prove to him  why he should make me the new boss of hell. It was what I always dreamed of and I spent years honing myself to perfection.

"The devil?" The human echoed dragging me out of my thoughts. I languidly turned to him. Right. I forgot that he was here.

He was sitting on the black carpet his wrists and ankles tied up with chains. I smirked wickedly while drinking in his fear and got the best satisfaction ever. He became uncomfortable from my glare and fidgeted on the floor his scared eyes turning to the carpet instead.

"Did I stutter?" I asked standing from the chair and walked towards him. The human turned to me with recognition about what was about to happen next and became more scared. "I brought you here to collect." I said materializing his file from thin air. I flipped it open then turned to the human. "You owe me a soul remember, Victor?" I smiled while his face fell.

He swallowed hard.
"Please. My wife is finally pregnant. We were trying to get a baby for years. I will finally have a son." Victor said. "Please have mercy on me."
"No can do. You already signed the dotted line." I said turning the contract he signed a few years ago where he wanted wealth in exchange for his soul.

"Please." Victor continued to beg.
I shook my head with an unsympathetic smile. It grew wider when I saw tears streaming down his cheeks. I tutted then walked towards him. I placed my hand on his right shoulder then the chains around his wrists and ankles glowed into a fiery red flame. It spread then rapidly engulfed his whole body. I calmly watched as he screamed his lungs out.

After a while the chains dimmed out and slowly disappeared. My hand glowed into a fiery red flame before it dimmed out shortly after. I turned to the defeated look on his face and patted his shoulder.
"Be careful what you wish for." I said then he disappeared back into the human world.

I inhaled softly then materialized a small burning flame that levitated on my palm which was his soul. I smiled closing my fist then turned to my right unclenching my fist shooting the small flame into one of the vessels on the shelf.

I sighed contentedly while watching every one that was burning with all the other souls I got over the years. There were like one thousand souls. Now, there were one thousand and one souls. If the boss didn't find that impressive then I don't know what else to do. I debate for a moment before deciding on going to make him realize that there was no competition and that he should make me the boss of hell.
