Chase

I grunted in my sleep then slowly opened my eyes, but I was taken aback to see Damian's face up close. I had no idea what he was doing but it didn't look like he was trying to kiss me. Or at least I hoped so.

I pushed him away. He was taken aback.
"Oh. You're awake?" He asked.
"Your repugnant smell woke me up." I snapped. "What happened?"
"I passed the mission, some angel called Matthew wanted to kill you, but I saved your ass. So, your welcome." Damian explained.

I wrinkled my eyebrows.
"That rock wasn't going to kill me because I'm immortal you moron." I said.
"It still counts as me saving you." Damian adamantly argued then turned to the door. A smile crept up on my face as I lowered my eyes.

The human opened the door then Rachel and Oliver rushed inside the room. I quickly hid the smile away.
"Chase? Are you okay?" Rachel asked.
"I'm fine." I replied.
"It's because of me." Damian proudly said.

I resisted the urge to roll my eyes while Rachel and Oliver chuckled softly.
"I didn't think you'd be able to use your devil fork so soon Damian. I am impressed." Oliver said.

"I am glad you brought yours along with you. Unlike Chase who didn't." Rachel said. "Why was Matthew attacking you anyway?"
"Because of the unknown figure that almost destroyed the other side Rachel." I flatly replied and tried to get up, but I winced from a sharp pain around my leg.

Meanwhile, everyone else had jumped to push me back to bed.
"You really damaged your leg buddy. It might take some time for you to recover." Oliver said. I turned to the leg and realized it was in a cast.
"Don't worry. Malcolm said that Damian can begin working now. He is ready." Rachel said.

I turned to the human and noticed he wasn't nervous. Shouldn't he be nervous? Am I missing something here?
"Yep. I'm fully ready, but I will still come and annoy you if I don't understand something Chase." Damian said as though assuring me in a way. I could only hope.

Damian

It was barely even an hour that I was home before I was needed again. However, the job took longer than expected that I didn't sleep a wink last night. Now, I was getting some sleep in Math class the following morning because I desperately needed it.

I heard Mister Johnson grumble which woke me up, but I still kept my eyes closed as I was trying to find sleep again.
"I said WAKE UP!!!" The Math teacher exclaimed. I don't do as he commanded, but I did open my right eye just in time to catch the chalk that he had thrown with my index and middle finger.

"Whoa." Someone cried in disbelief then everyone else began applauding which infuriated the teacher. His face was now red like a tomato.
"DAMIAN!!!" He shouted furiously, but the bell rang saving my ass.

After the Math teacher stormed away Gabriella stormed towards me. Poor Tracy was trailing behind her nervously.
"I can't believe you finally showed up just to sleep your way through class." Gabriella said. "People are being really mean to our class president Tracy all because of you."

"Gabby, please calm down. It's okay." Tracy whispered tugging on her best friend's white uniform jersey.
"No. It's not okay Tracy." Gabriella said turning to her. "I got this." She then made eye contact with me. "Where were you this whole time Miller?"
"It's none of your business." I snapped.

"Oh, but it is my business." Gabriella snapped back with a narrowed look.
"Hey Miller? What's the matter? Are you afraid to tell us what you were up to?" Josh mockingly asked behind me.
"Why are you so tired man?" Sanders asked while sitting across me on the right. I rubbed my temples wincing from a headache. I closed my eyes and let out a small exhale.
"I was up all night..." I quickly bit my tongue and snapped my eyes open in shock. I almost said it.

Gabriella scoffed.
"All night doing what?" She questioned. I had to think fast so that I could get all of them off my back.
"A movie." I replied. "I stayed up all night watching a movie, alright?"

Sanders smirked.
"Oh really? What type of movie was it?" He mockingly asked. I inhaled indignantly then turned to him.
"None of your goddamn business Sanders." I snapped.

"Whoa. You're clearly in a bad mood." Josh said with an amused chuckle.
"I'm not in a bad mood. All of you just fucking leave me alone." I said.
"Not until you tell us where have you been this whole time and apologize to Tracy." Gabriella demanded.

I rolled my eyes and sighed softly.
"Okay. I promise to come to school tomorrow as well." I said leaning back in my chair.
"Really?" Tracy asked sounding hopeful.
"You do know that's how attendance works, right?" Gabriella asked after folding her arms and gave me a deadpan look.

"Damian, you should make sure to not watch your suspicious movies the day before school." Josh said.
"Yeah. You sleep at home man. There's a bed there for a reason." Sanders added. My jaw ticked.
"Both of you just shut the fuck up." I hissed turning to them, but we all froze because of a chime notification on my phone that was on top of my table face down.

"What is it?" Sanders asked as I was picking up my phone to look at the text that Rachel sent.
"Emergency." That was all she said.
"I am sorry but I have to go." I said standing then began packing up my things.
"What?" Gabriella cried in disbelief. "But you just told us that you would come to class."

"Well, I lied." I shrugged carrying my school bag then made my way to the door. However, Gabriella quickly stood in front of it blocking my way.
"You think this is a joke?" She asked. "If you want to leave then you'll have to go through me." I widened my eyes in shock when she almost kicked my face. I had back flipped avoiding her attack.

Though, that didn't stop her as she kept on trying to kick me.
"I didn't know that the choir also taught karate." I mocked with an amused chuckle which made Gabriella growl.
"Stop talking and just give up already!" She exclaimed as I back flipped and landed on the window sill. However, I slipped and fell. I quickly held onto the lower grade's window sill which was below my class to slow down my fall then jumped off to the ground.

My classmates raced to the window thinking that I might have died from the fall.
"Damian?" Tracy called anxiously. They quickly spotted me. I smiled then waved.
"See ya." I said and ran off.
"Yeah, he's getting held back a year for sure." I heard Josh say before I took off. I hid behind a building then ensured that nobody was near before snapping my fingers and teleported to hell.
