"we used to go out to eat before drinking, like reponsible people, but now what? we're going straight to the bar? what happened to us?" atsumu inquired, disbelief almost overflowing from his voice.

"they have food there," aran said, rolling his eyes.

throughout three years of college, he and yn never got around to taking atsumu to their favorite bar, atsumu wasn't a big drinker, but thanks to bokuto, he'll finally understand why it was their favorite place to get drinks.

"i love their fries," yn said, and before atsumu could comment on his coach's diet guidelines, she opened her mouth again. "you gotta try them, best fries in tokyo, i swear."

aran opened the doors for two of his friends to enter, and if atsumu was honest, he understood right away why they chose this location. it was the coziest bar he had ever been in, and he had been to many bars in his life. there was nice music playing, and it took him a moment to realize it was live, coming from a girl on stage, standing in front of a large sign reading 'karaoke night' on the wall behind her. it sold him enough to consider giving those fries a try.

"they're here, come on," yn said, taking atsumu by the sleeve and leading him between the tables. "hi, guys," she said with a big smile. "this is atsumu. atsumu, this is bokuto, akaashi, and kuroo." she introduced them politely, but within a second, atsumu was already in bokuto's arms.

"man, it's so great to meet you," he said, patting his back. it didn't take long for atsumu to hug bokuto, as if he had wanted to do so for years. they were the first people who came to mind when she thought about good hugs, so she knew it had to feel amazing.

atsumu sat next to bokuto, and aran took a seat on his right, leaving one seat open for yn to sit between him and kuroo, but kuroo suddenly switched his seat to be closer to aran, leaving yn with no choice but to sit between kuroo and akaashi. not that she had anything against it, she just shrugged her shoulders, kuroo simply wanted to sit next to aran, and she was happy with sitting next to akaashi.

but akaashi frowned at kuroo, who simply laughed at him, making yn feel like she did something wrong. did he not want to sit next to her?

kuroo slid a drink for her on the table, and she nodded in thanks.

"kenma didn't wanted to come?" she asked, turning to her right to watch akaashi's reaction, in case his face turned sour or he seemed frustrated with her striking up a conversation.

but as soon as his gaze shifted from kuroo's to hers, he smiled softly, easing all of her worries. 'so it's not about me,' she realized with a sigh of relief.

"no, he said he already had plans," he replied.

"oh, okay," yn said, nodding. "i'm glad you came."

akaashi smiled at her again and took a big sip of his beer.
