akaashi heard a lot about aran's mom from yn. she spoke so highly of this woman that he couldn't help but feel stressed when aran told him, yn, and bokuto that his mother had invited them to dinner the afternoon before they left for tokyo. from what he'd learned, it wasn't surprising that she wanted to eat dinner with yn when she was at home, but he hadn't expected to be invited as well. it just confirmed everything yn said about aran's mom's hospitality.
she was a tall woman with a radiant smile. dressed more elegantly than homey like he expected, but she wore an apron, showing that she put her whole self into cooking, as proven by multiple stains that remained after many washes.
"did you find a good apartment, bokuto?" she asked as they all sat down to eat.
there were so many dishes on the table that akaashi had trouble deciding where to begin, and it took his full attention. he looked to the left, where yn was already eating rice and vegetables. she felt his gaze on her and raised her eyes to him.
"don't know what to pick?" she chuckled quietly trying not to interrupt the conversation about apartments. "try this first," she suggested, sharing a portion with him. she watched as akaashi took a chunk of rice with his spoon, chewed it thoroughly, and looked at her with raised brows and a slight sparkle in his eyes. "good, right?"
"this is amazing," he said right away.
"then you should try the beef next, the marinate makes it so sweet and spicy, also, the peanut butter chicken, i never knew that chicken could melt on your tounge like that, and the gyōza, ah, it's all so good," she sighed, reaching for the dumplings.
akaashi only found out yesterday that yn was very passionate about food, which made him a little insecure because his cooking skills weren't nearly as good as hers, but it sparked the idea that maybe one day he'll ask her to teach him and they could spend some time together doing breakfast, just like the first morning in kobe.
"i have something important to say," aran said with a deep breath.
"what?" yn asked with a full mouth, drawing a disappointed look from aran's mom. she swallowed her food and realized what aran was going to say. "you coward, i told you to leave me out of this and now you're dragging 'kaashi and bokuto too?"
"oh my god," aran's mom gasped, covering her mouth with a hand. "did you got yn pregnant?" she asked her son with a judgmental expression on her face.
yn choked on rice.
"what? no! mom, why would you think about it?!"
"because yn said don't drag her into this! and i know you need two to tango," she huffed, already mourning the idea of a grandchild.
"i'm joining the red falcons, moving to shizuoka after college, and playing professionally," aran said, ignoring yn's angry stare.
"i told him to do this privately, but no, he needs mental support to say anything important to his own mom," she murmured to akaashi and bokuto, who exchanged panicked glances.
