akaashi wasn't given a heads-up from yn this time. he left the lecture hall, feeling stressed and stupid. the piece he wrote was overly literal and pointed directly at him as the author. he used two lines from the first of the few songs he heard, thinking it was a great idea to show her that she should start sharing them again, because someone out there heard and understood. it seemed like the perfect and riskiest choice ever, but he felt that simply saying 'i hear you' was not enough without proof.

when he saw yn in front of his lecture hall, looking for him in the crowd, he felt his heart race. her brows were knitted, and she was not smiling, which was unusual given that she always had a light curl of the lips.

"'kaashi," she said as soon as she got close enough.

'god, she knows,' he thought. his heartbeat was so quick that it almost hurt. he knew that this moment will be stressfull, but he wasn't expecting himself to panic that hard. the expression on her face terrified him.

"are you mad?" he asked, nearly stuttering.

"what?"

"you look mad."

"oh," she hummed, rubbing the space between her eyebrows. "sorry, it's my thinking face, and i'm thinking really hard. it hurts," she chuckled, trying to rub away the pain. "i need your help," she said, looking at him with her usual expression and a red spot on the forehead from all the touching.

"oh," akaashi repeated after her, and pushed his glasses up. she didn't know, but it didn't help him calm down. maybe it would be better if she knew? just rip off the bandaid and get over with that. he hated that uncertainity in everything now. 'should've think about it earlier.' "help?"

"yeah, there's another poem, and i need it," she said determinedly.

if she could just hold it, she might be able to get it. she hoped it would be enough to make the two gears click together and get her brain working in the right direction, because she knew she knew those words, but she didn't know which drawer to look in.

"i don't think-" he began, looking around at the crowded hallway. it was peak hour, so those with morning classes were still there and those with evening classes were already here. "i don't think it's a good time now."

"right, i'm so sorry," she said, putting her hand over her lips. "i didn't think about it at all, k'm sorry," she said, laughing at her own stupidity. "i don't want you to get into trouble, i wasn't thinking."

"it's okay," he said, waving his hand. "i can take it off when i finish my classes and bring it to you," he offered. "i have an hour class next and them i'm free."

"i have a three hour lecture next, and i won't be even able to leave to bathroom," she huffed with frustration. her professor was a asshole, how could she be teaching psychology in early childhood development while believing that wanting to pee is disrespectful? "i don't want you to wait that long."

"i can wait."

"'kaashi," yn whined, throwing her head back lightly with a hand on his arm. did he have to be such a sweetheart when she was trying to decide if to focus on him or the person who had written to her? it's almost as if he knew what was going on in her mind and tried to gain an advantage. and he succeeded. his heart clenched as he heard her say his name in this way. "you really don't have to," she replied. "you... you can get it after classes and i can come over to get it, when i'm finished with mine."

'sure, you're having such a hard time choosing a guy that you ask one of them if you can come over the first chance you get,' she thought. all of this was akaashi's fault, not her own. he was the one who looked at her as if he were willing to give her anything she asked for, and she couldn't stay indifferent to this.

"okay," he said, gripping the strap of his bag tightly. it's nothing strange, right? she'll just stop by to get one thing, right? not that he would mind her staying for longer, but the longer they were together, the more difficult it was to keep his thoughts to himself. "i'll text you the adress."

"good," she said and nodded. akaashi looked at her sternly, as if he was trying to see through her, and she didn't understand why. it was probably obvious that she had warm feelings for him, but he had no right to judge because she was almost certain that he liked her as well! at the very least, she hoped so strongly enough not to consider any other options. "i'll see you later," she said awkwardly, before turning around and patting herself on the warm cheek.
